Hand comes into this game coming off a solid performance against the Braves. He will look to keep the momentum going against a better opponent in the Cardinals tonight. Hand is a tough start against any opponent as he has a career SIERA of 4.67 and a career strikeout rate of 14.8%. His upside is not worth the risk here against the Cardinals squad as Vegas has them as the biggest favorites of the night. Rating = 4

John Lackey

Lackey continues to roll along as a solid starter in the major leagues, but not exactly someone we can depend on for big fantasy outings. Over the last month, Lackey holds a SIERA of 4.03 with a strikeout rate of just 18.1%. Lackey is the type of starter that is not going to kill your lineups, but is also not going to be the highest scoring pitcher on the slate. Rating = 6.5

This Marlins squad comes into this matchup with the lowest team total on the board at 2.88. While Lackey could give up some runs tonight, it looks like a night where it is better to avoid the bats in this matchup.

Archer is clearly the top starter going on the night slate. Archer currently holds a SIERA of 2.61 on the season and a strikeout rate at an elite 31.1% clip. Archer will most likely give up a few runs in hitter-friendly Globe, but his strikeout potential outweighs the risk of the matchup tonight. He has the highest potential going tonight, but does have the toughest park to pitch in out of the top options. Rating = 8.5

Colby Lewis

Strikeout Rate: 22.0% (Rank: 27)

Lewis has always been a pitcher daily fantasy players look to pick on anytime he takes the mound as he is always prone to the big outing against him. They haven’t come as much as many of us have probably hoped as he comes into this game with a season long SIERA of 4.11. Regardless, his fantasy appeal is not relevant as he doesn’t strike guys out a ton and will get very little run support against Archer. Rating = 4

“Lefties against Lewis” has been a slogan for DFS all year long. Lewis has improved, but still has allowed a wOBA of .328 to left-handed bats this year and this Rays squad has a big team total of 4.60 tonight. They have a lot of cheap options that are in great spots tonight.

Gray is a young pitcher making only his third career start and second now at Coors. This game features the highest total by far of the night and the Padres are the highest projected offense. Avoid him. Rating = 2

To go along with the pending regression, Holmberg does not provide us with enough upside in terms of strikeout rate (16.4%) to be worth the risk tonight. He is an easy avoid on the slate. Rating = 4

The Dodgers are huge favorites tonight at -180, which should put Anderson in line for the win tonight. He makes a solid SP2 on the slate. Rating = 6

Gio is coming off a very solid eight inning, zero earned run performance against the Dodgers. He will now face a Giants squad that is a middle of the road offense against left-handed pitching on the season. Gio has a 3.64 SIERA on the year and has a solid 20.9% strikeout rate. This game features a 6.5 total with the Nationals being slight favorites. This has the makings of a very low scoring game and Gio is in play, and make be a decent, cheaper option than Arrieta, Archer or Cueto. Rating = 7

Jake Peavy

Washington Nationals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)

Peavy has not been a high upside pitcher in his nine starts this year. He rarely goes more than six innings and his strikeout rate is only at 18.9%. This Nationals squad does only have a projected run total of 2.99, but Peavy is a less than ideal option for DFS. Rating = 4
