The Rangers draw a fantastic matchup against Kyle Kendrick, who has given up more home runs than any other pitcher in baseball this season. Better yet, they get to face him in Coors Field. Every player that is in the Rangers’ lineup will be in play tonight, with an emphasis on those batting one through six.

Analysis: Latos has pitched pretty well over the last month of play, but he draws a difficult matchup tonight against the Diamondbacks in the hitter-friendly Chase Field. Latos is a small underdog in what is expected to be a high-scoring game. He can safely be avoided in all league formats tonight.
Pitcher Rating:55.2

Pitchers per PA: 3.70 (Rank: 28)
Analysis: Hellickson may have a 4.84 ERA over the last month of play, but his SIERA tells another story. During that stretch, he has a 2.87 SIERA with a high strikeout rate of 26.3%. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against the Marlins, who are ranked 26th in wOBA (.293) and 20th in strikeout rate (20.3%) against right-handed pitching this season. While I still don’t trust Hellickson as a cash game option, he’s worth a look as a contrarian play in tournaments.

Miami
Jeremy Hellickson is a reverse-splits pitcher that has given up a much higher wOBA to right-handed hitters than he has to left-handed hitters. That doesn’t bode well for a Marlins’ offense that is loaded with lefties. Christian Yelich and Ichiro Suzuki are in play, but both are secondary options in the outfield.

The Diamondbacks draw a mediocre matchup against Mat Latos, who has held left and right-handed hitters under a .305 wOBA over the last two seasons. They do get the benefit of playing at home, but I see them as secondary fantasy options tonight.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.327 (Rank: 9) — Strikeout Rate: 19.8% (Rank: 9)
Pitchers per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 17)
Analysis: Gibson has really pitched well recently, posting a 3.25 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.1% over the last month of play. The issue here is that he faces an Angels’ offense that has been red-hot in recent weeks. Mike Trout and Albert Pujols can both ruin a pitcher’s outing with a single swing of their bats. I’ll be avoiding Gibson tonight on the road.

Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 16)
Analysis: Shoemaker has been inconsistent this season and he’s coming off of a few disappointing starts. He draws a decent matchup against the Twins, but at this point, he’s nothing more than a deep tournament option. The price point on DraftKings is appealing, but I’d rather target pitchers that are in better form.

The Twins draw an average matchup against Matt Shoemaker, who has been in less than stellar form recently. They are still underdogs on the road though and their fairly low team total makes them an easy avoid tonight. Miguel Sano is the one Twins’ bat on my radar, as he has a .513 wOBA and a .310 ISO against right-handed pitching this season.

Analysis: Buerhle has pitched well recently, but he has one of the lowest strikeout rates of any qualified starter. Pitchers that have a low strikeout rate have very limited upside and can’t afford to make any mistakes. Buehrle should be avoided tonight against the A’s, who have the third-lowest strikeout rate (17.2%) against left-handed pitching this season.

While I don’t love Kendall Graveman tonight against the Blue Jays, I also don’t like the Blue Jays against Graveman. They are a bit overpriced for their matchup tonight. Once again, if I’m paying up for hitters, I’d rather pay up for the ones playing in Coors Field.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.293 (Rank: 22) — Strikeout Rate: 21.5% (Rank: 21)

Analysis: Heston is a very interesting play tonight. He draws one of the best matchups on the board and he gets to pitch in Petco Park. On the season, the Padres are ranked 28th in wOBA (.291) and 25th in strikeout rate (21.5%) against right-handed pitching. He’s in play in as an SP2 on multi-pitcher sites, but he’s not a big enough favorite to target on single-pitcher sites.

San Francisco Giants Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.326 (Rank: 6) — Strikeout Rate: 18.0% (Rank: 5)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.340 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 21.1% (Rank: 20)
Pitchers per PA: 3.73 (Rank: 25)
Analysis: Despaigne has pitched better recently, but his low strikeout rate takes him out of consideration tonight. He also draws a tough matchup against the Giants, who are ranked sixth in wOBA (.326) and fifth in strikeout rate (18.0%) against right-handed pitching. This is not the night to target Despaigne.
Pitcher Rating:47.4

San Francisco
The Giants draw a decent matchup against Odrisamer Despaigne, but they have to face him in the pitcher-friendly Petco Park. With a game in Coors and some of the other teams with such high totals, the Giants are secondary options at best tonight.

The Padres are an easy team to avoid tonight against Chris Heston. The one hitter that does deserve a look is Matt Kemp. He has been red-hot over the last 14 days, posting a .510 wOBA and a .406 ISO.
