The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

The Bruins have won five of their last six games and look to continue their winning ways this afternoon in the City of Brotherly Love. David Krejci and Anders Bjork are skating but are still donning the red jerseys as of yesterday’s practice so although they are close, they probably won’t suit up this afternoon. Jake DeBrusk has been ruled out of today’s game which leaves the top line of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak as the line to target this afternoon. This line also serves as the team’s top power play line which bodes well today considering the fact that the Flyers have given up 12 goals over the last nine games while trying to kill off a penalty. Ryan Spooner saw a good chunk of extra ice time on Wednesday so using him as a one-off here just based on opportunity isn’t out of the question. Defenseman Torey Krug completes the top power play line but Charlie McAvoy is certainly worth a look here as both players have snared five points over the last nine games. The only drawback here is that the Bruins have only scored more than three goals just once in their last 10 games. The second line that features David Backes, Riley Nash and Danton Heinen can be looked at as a GPP play here against the woeful Philadelphia team. Pastrnak leads the team with 12 goals and 21 points while Marchand’s 19 points in the 17 games he has suited up for has him over a point per game average. The Flyers have lost nine games in a row. Enough said.

The Flyers have been clueless for a while as Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek have just not been able to move the team forward over the last five years. Neither has registered a 30 goal season and to make matters worse, it looks like Wayne Simmonds has gone into a funk as his 14 points in the first 25 games has been less than memorable. Sean Couturier plays on the top line with the aforementioned Giroux and Voracek so taking any Philadelphia forward outside of these four players would seem ludicrous. Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere joins them to form the team’s top unit when they have the extra attacker that has scored just four power play goals over the last nine games. Defenseman Ivan Provorov has registered 13 points so far this season and could be looked at for salary relief if you need to fill a GPP spot on your roster. Voracek leads the team with 30 points while Couturier’s 14 goals are tops on the team. Nolan Patrick and Jordan Weal will skate with Simmonds on the second line this afternoon if you are feeling a bit lucky, otherwise I’d pass and stick with the top five that get the extra ice time. The Flyers need to turn things around but this afternoon may not be the day to do it.
