Buck Farmer : FD: $4,500 — DK: $4,000
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 34.0 — SIERA: 4.49 — ERA: 9.26 — K%: 15.9% — BB%: 9.2% — HR/9: 2.1

Cincinnati Reds Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.305 (Rank: 22) — Strikeout Rate: 19.5% (Rank: 12)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.291 (Rank: 24) — Strikeout Rate: 24.1% (Rank: 24)
Pitches per PA: 3.77 (Rank: 22)
Analysis: Farmer has not fared well in his short stint in the majors, posting a 4.49 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 15.9% over the last two seasons. He has pitched well in the minors, but until we see it in the majors, he can safely be avoided in all league formats. He is a sizable underdog on the road tonight against the Reds in the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark.
Pitcher Rating: 33.3
Keyvius Sampson : FD: $5,300 — DK: $4,400
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 20.1 — SIERA: 4.47 — ERA: 4.43 — K%: 18.7% — BB%: 9.9% — HR/9: 0.9
Detroit Tigers Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.324 (Rank: 4) — Strikeout Rate: 20.1% (Rank: 15)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.335 (Rank: 7) — Strikeout Rate: 24.4% (Rank: 25)
Pitches per PA: 3.84 (Rank: 11)
Analysis: Sampson has pitched pretty well in his first few major league starts, posting a 4.47 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 18.7%. He is still unproven at the major league level though, and he draws a difficult matchup against the Tigers, who are ranked fourth in team wOBA this season. The price point is appealing, but with Miguel Cabrera back in the lineup, the Tigers are not an offense that we should be actively targeting pitchers against.
Pitcher Rating: 50.9

Detroit
The Tigers are small underdogs tonight, but the total for the game is set at 9.0 runs, with both offenses expected to have some success. They draw a favorable matchup against rookie Keyvius Sampson in the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark. Victor Martinez is an excellent play at catcher tonight on FanDuel. Miguel Cabrera, J.D. Martinez, and Anthony Gose are also in play.

Cincinnati
The Reds have one of the highest team totals on the board tonight. They draw a favorable matchup against Buck Farmer, who has not pitched well in the majors. The sample size is still small, but Farmer has given up a .412+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters. Load up on the Reds’ offense in both cash games and tournaments tonight.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.323 (Rank: 13) — Strikeout Rate: 14.7% (Rank: 1)
Pitches per PA: 3.68 (Rank: 30)
Analysis: Jimenez comes into tonight’s start in less than stellar form, posting a 6.19 ERA (4.38 SIERA) with a strikeout rate of 17.5% over the last month of play. He should be avoided tonight against the Royals, who have the lowest strikeout rate of any team against right-handed pitching this season. The risk outweighs the potential reward tonight for Jimenez.
Pitcher Rating: 53.9
Kris Medlen : FD: $6,600 — DK: $5,200
Pitching Stats:

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.344 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 21.1% (Rank: 17)
Pitches per PA: 3.82 (Rank: 14)
Analysis: Medlen is making his first start of the season, after making seven appearances out of the bullpen. He has yet to throw more than 52 pitches in any single outing this season, so we can expect him to be on a pitch count tonight against the Orioles. While the strikeout potential is there against Baltimore, he likely won’t pitch very deep into this game. For that reason, he can be avoided in both cash games and tournaments.
Pitcher Rating: 61.9
Batter Grind Down
Baltimore
The Orioles draw a bad matchup tonight against the Royals. They will have to deal with Kris Medlen for at least a few innings and then they will have to face a very good Royals’ bullpen. To make matters worse, they are playing in the pitcher-friendly Kaufmann Stadium.

The Royals draw a decent matchup tonight against Ubaldo Jimenez, who struggles with his command at times. Jimenez isn’t particularly effective against hitters from either side of the plate, but the left-handed bats have the edge in this matchup. Eric Hosmer remains an elite play at first base.

Analysis: Kelly has pitched well recently, but I’m not buying into him just yet. His velocity is up this season and so is his strikeout rate, but he is still Joe Kelly. Analysis: Samardzija is coming off of his best start in a while. He struck out seven batters against the Angels, while only surrendering a single run. His price point on DraftKings is certainly appealing, but I’m not a fan of his matchup tonight against the Red Sox. On the season, Boston has the second-lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. The Red Sox also average the second-most pitches per plate appearance. Samardzija is a decent SP2 on DraftKings, but I will likely only have exposure to him in tournaments.
Pitcher Rating: 58.9

The Red Sox offense has been on a tear recently. They have been tough on some of the best pitchers in baseball in Corey Kluber and Johnny Cueto. Tonight they square off against Jeff Samardzija, who has been very hit or miss this season. The Red Sox are an interesting stack tonight and David Ortiz deserves consideration in cash games.

Analysis: Lynn has been one of the best pitchers in the Cardinals’ rotation over the last two years, posting a 3.75 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.5%. If this game was being played in St. Louis, I would take a long look at him tonight. The issue is that he is pitching on the road in the hitter-friendly Chase Field. At this price point, it makes more sense to pay a little more for Jacob deGrom, who is in a much better matchup tonight.

Analysis: Right when we were starting to buy in on Ray, he comes out and gives us a couple of subpar outings in a row. Over the last month of play, he has a 5.18 ERA (4.20 SIERA) with a strikeout rate of 20.8%. He draws an intriguing matchup against the Cardinals tonight, who are ranked 22nd in team wOBA and 24th in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. Ray may not be a safe cash game option, but he provides great upside at his price point for tournaments.

The Cardinals draw a mediocre matchup tonight against Robbie Ray. On the one hand, they have not hit left-handed pitching well this season. But on the other hand, Robbie Ray has given up a .324+ wOBA to hitters from both sides of the plate. The Cardinals also see a nice ballpark boost playing in the hitter-friendly Chase Field.

Analysis: Doubront is an easy pitcher to avoid in daily fantasy. He has an average SIERA with a below-average strikeout rate. He draws a tough matchup tonight against the Mariners, who have been very tough on southpaws recently. Doubront can safely be avoided tonight, as he is a large underdog pitching on the road.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.311 (Rank: 17) — Strikeout Rate: 19.4% (Rank: 9)
Pitches per PA: 3.86 (Rank: 9)
Analysis: Iwakuma has been very sharp recently, posting a 2.99 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 23.4% over the last month of play. While the A’s may not strikeout at a high rate, they don’t hit right-handed pitching very well. On the season, they are ranked 22nd in team wOBA against righties. Iwakuma has a terrific track record at home and he is a sizable favorite. It’s hard to justify taking him over Jacob deGrom, but Iwakuma is a strong pitching option tonight.
Pitcher Rating: 82.9
