Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.387 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 23.0% (Rank: 27)
Pitchers per PA: 3.76 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: I was disappointed to see that this game wasn’t included in the early slate on FanDuel, but with a five hour time difference from the first game, it may have been a smart move, as the lineups for this game probably won’t be out by the time leagues lock. Matt Harrison had success against the Rockies in Coors last night, but that doesn’t mean that Martin Perez will have any success today. Expect the Rockies to bounce back in a big way.
Pitcher Rating:36.0
Jorge De La Rosa : FD: $6,700 — DK: $6,800

Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 14)
Analysis: De La Rosa is the ace of this Rockies’ pitching staff and while he somehow has decent numbers at Coors Field in his career, he is not a recommended fantasy option. This game has the highest run total on the board for a reason.
Pitcher Rating:48.8

The Rangers put up nine runs in a win over the Rockies last night as Shin-Soo Choo hit for the cycle. They will look to continue their offensive onslaught today against Jorge De La Rosa, who has given up a .331 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season. Load up on Rangers in both cash games and tournaments.

Colorado
Even though they put up a zero last night at home, the Rockies are still the top offense to target in today’s slate of games. They draw a terrific matchup against Martin Perez and they get to face him at home. Since the start of last season, Perez has given up a .357 wOBA to right-handed hitters. Load up on the right-handed bats in this lineup and don’t be afraid to target Charlie Blackmon against the southpaw as well.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.293 (Rank: 22) — Strikeout Rate: 21.5% (Rank: 21)
Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 13)
Analysis: Cain has been good, but not great in his first three starts coming back from injury. He owns a 4.05 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 20.3%. I doubt that he will ever be the same pitcher that he was a few years back, but he can still be a quality starter in the majors. He has a good chance to post his best outing of the season today, as he takes on the Padres in Petco Park. On the season, San Diego is ranked 28th in wOBA (.291) and 25th in strikeout rate (22.0%) against right-handed pitching. I wish Cain was a little cheaper, but he still deserves consideration as an SP2 in the early slate.
Pitcher Rating:57.5
James Shields : FD: $9,300 — DK: $9,600
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 348.2 — SIERA: 3.47 — ERA: 3.46 — K%: 21.8% — BB%: 6.1% — HR/9: 1.1

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.340 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 21.1% (Rank: 20)
Pitchers per PA: 3.73 (Rank: 25)
Analysis: Shields has not pitched well recently, posting a 4.23 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.0% over the last month of play. What may be most alarming is his 12.7% walk rate during that stretch. His command is not where he wants it to be, which could cause big problems against a team like the Giants that rarely swings at bad pitches. The appeal of pitching at Petco is there, but Shields is a bit overpriced for his matchup. I’d rather target Noah Syndergaard or Jordan Zimmermann.
Pitcher Rating:70.7

San Francisco
Even though I will have zero shares of James Shields tonight, I will not be targeting many hitters against him either. The Giants are playing in the worst ballpark for offensive production and they are facing an All-Star caliber type of pitcher. They could score some runs here, but why take the chance when there is a game in Coors Field?

San Diego
The Padres inspire very little confidence at this point in the season. We all thought that they’d eventually turn it around (at least against left-handed pitching), but we may be waiting for a rescue boat that’s never going to come. I have zero interest in the Padres today, as they square off against Matt Cain at home.

Pitchers per PA: 3.89 (Rank: 4)
Analysis: Gausman is awfully cheap on DraftKings tonight ($4,000), but he’s still nothing more than a deep tournament option against the Yankees. He has a decent strikeout rate, but the Yankees are one of the best offenses in baseball. On the season, they are ranked fourth in wOBA (.328) and eighth in strikeout rate (18.9%) against right-handed pitching. It doesn’t help that he has to face them in the hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium.

Pitchers per PA: 3.82 (Rank: 12)
Analysis: Nova may have a 3.42 ERA over the last month, but his indicators leave us with some red flags. His SIERA is close to 5.00, while his strikeout rate is sitting at 11.9%. That’s not going to get it done in the American League East. He draws a plus-matchup against the Orioles in terms of strikeout potential, but Baltimore has a ton of power in their lineup. Nova should be avoided in all league formats tonight.

The Orioles draw a favorable matchup against Ivan Nova, who has not been sharp in his recent starts. Nova has given up a career .378 wOBA to left-handed hitters, making Chris Davis and Matt Wieters both strong plays at their respective positions. Since the game in Coors Field is in the early slate, we should see a much wider variety of picks at position players tonight. The Yankees’ offense is a good one to target, as they have plenty of left-handed hitters to throw at Kevin Gausman. Analysis: Montgomery has had a much lower ERA than SIERA this season, which is usually something to monitor in DFS, but the SIERA has improved in his recent starts. Over the last month of play, Mongomery has a 3.37 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.3%. The big issue here is his matchup against the Tigers. On the season, Detroit is ranked second in wOBA (.339) and 25th in strikeout rate (23.6%) against left-handed pitching.

Analysis: Sanchez has struggled in his recent starts, posting a 4.46 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 18.1% over the last month of play. If this game was being played a month ago, Sanchez would be a viable pitching option tonight. The problem is that the Mariners have shown signs of life recently. They are ranked seventh in wOBA (.335) over the last 14 days. Sanchez can safely be avoided in what is expected to be a high-scoring game.

The Mariners are facing Anibal Sanchez at the perfect time. Not only is their offense finally starting to put some runs on the board, but Sanchez is in less than stellar form recently. Sanchez has given up a higher wOBA to right-handed hitters over the last two seasons, but I still favor the bats from the left side of the plate in this matchup.

Chicago White Sox Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.297 (Rank: 24) — Strikeout Rate: 19.6% (Rank: 13)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.283 (Rank: 26) — Strikeout Rate: 20.2% (Rank: 13)
Pitchers per PA: 3.76 (Rank: 22)
Analysis: Lynn has been sharp since returning from injury, posting a 3.16 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 27.9%. He walks a few too many batters for my liking, but the high strikeout rate more than makes up for it. He draws a nice matchup tonight against ths White Sox, who are ranked 24th in wOBA (.297) and 13th in strikeout rate (19.6%) against right-handed pitching this season. Lynn should be considered in both cash games and tournaments.

St. Louis Cardinals Offense (2015)
vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.289 (Rank: 28) — Strikeout Rate: 24.0% (Rank: 27)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.297 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 20.5% (Rank: 16)
Pitchers per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 19)
Analysis: Danks is an automatic avoid every time he takes the mound. He may have a quality start every now and then, but he has trouble with right-handed hitters and almost every team in baseball has at least a couple of quality right-handed bats. The matchup against the Cardinals is a favorable one, but I want no part of Danks tonight or anytime in the future.

Batter Grind Down
St. Louis
As mentioned above, John Danks does not fare well against right-handed hitters. Since the start of last season, he has given up a .367 wOBA to hitters from the right side of the plate. Jhonny Peralta and Matt Holliday are both excellent targets tonight, while Randal Grichuck and Yadier Molina are also in play.

Chicago White Sox
The White Sox put up five runs last night, but they are still slumping offensively. They draw a very tough matchup against Lance Lynn, who has held left and right-handed hitters under a .310 wOBA over the last two seasons. The Sox can be avoided tonight in all league formats.
