Analysis:Paul Goldschmidt is the obvious choice here. While he’s obviously in a great spot, you are going to have to pay a pretty penny for him. I’d rather save a couple grand and target Pollock instead. Since the start of last season, he has a .395 wOBA and a .241 ISO against left-handed pitching. He also sees a major ballpark boost playing in Coors Field.

Analysis: Blackmon had a big fantasy outing last night with two hits, two runs, and two stolen bases. He offers good power as a leadoff hitter and he has great speed on the base paths. He draws a terrific matchup today against Rubby De La Rosa, who has given up a .384 wOBA to left-handed hitters. Once again, load up on the bats in Coors Field.

Analysis: Wisler was sharp in his major league debut, holding the Mets to a single run in eight innings of work. I’m still going to take the wait and see approach though, as he will be making his first career road start today. The Nationals are a potent offense that can put runs on the board quickly. Wisler is a deep tournament play at best.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.303 (Rank: 21) — Strikeout Rate: 17.9% (Rank: 10)
Pitchers per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 17)
Analysis: Fister has one of the lowest strikeout rates of any starter in baseball. Since the start of last season, he has a 4.14 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 13.8%. The low strikeout rate limits his upside and it doesn’t allow him to overcome mistakes. The matchup against a Freddie Freeman-less Braves’ lineup is enticing, but I will continue to avoid Fister, as the strikeout potential isn’t what we need it to be from our starting pitcher(s).
Pitcher Rating:52.6
Batter Grind Down
Atlanta
The Braves draw a decent matchup against Doug Fister, but without Freddie Freeman in the lineup, they are going to have a hard time scoring runs. There are a few secondary options in play here, but none of the Braves’ hitters stand out as elite plays.

Analysis: Even though he hasn’t been hitting home runs every night, Harper is still one of the hottest hitters in baseball right now with a .507 wOBA and a .333 ISO over the last two weeks. He has great power against right-handed pitching and he gets to face a rookie that is making his first major league start on the road. The Nationals are a sneaky stack for tournaments.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.287 (Rank: 24) — Strikeout Rate: 16.3% (Rank: 2)
Pitchers per PA: 3.72 (Rank: 27)
Analysis: Shields got off to a blazing start this season, but he has cooled off recently. Over the last month of play, he has a 4.03 SIERA with a much more sustainable strikeout rate of 20.3%. He would be in play if this game was in Petco Park, but I don’t love him in this spot on the road. The Giants are one of the toughest teams to strikeout and they are an above-average offense against right-handed pitching.

Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 14)
Analysis: Heston is having a solid season for the Giants, posting a 3.42 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 20.2%. He has been a little boom or bust as a fantasy option, but with a matchup against the Padres, it appears to be a great spot for a boom performance. The Padres are ranked 25th in wOBA and 26th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. The strikeout potential is there, the only concern here is run support.

The Padres have been one of the worst hitting teams against right-handed pitching all season. While Chris Heston has struggled with left-handed hitters, the Padres are secondary fantasy options today in the pitcher-friendly AT&T Park.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.306 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 21.1% (Rank: 21)

Analysis: Desclafani is a low strikeout pitcher that has very limited upside. He owns a 4.42 ERA on the season with a strikeout rate of 16.5%. He comes into tonight’s game as a sizable underdogs against the Pirates, who have been a letdown offensively this season. Even though Pittsburgh is still ranked below the league average in wOBA against right-handed pitching, they should be able to score some runs on Desclafani tonight.

Pitchers per PA: 3.73 (Rank: 24)
Analysis: Burnett has really pitched well this season for the Pirates. He is in great form coming into tonight’s start, posting a 3.34 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 19.6% over the last month of play. He has a great history at PNC Park and while the Reds do possess an above-average offense, it’s hard to argue against Burnett as the top pitching option tonight. He is the largest favorite on the board, which is a big boost on FanDuel, due to the importance of the win.

Cincinnati
Even though there are only three games on the schedule for the evening slate, there aren’t any Reds’ hitters that stand out as elite plays. A.J. Burnett has given up a .328 wOBA to left-handed hitters though, which leaves us with a few secondary fantasy plays from Cincinnati.

Miami Marlins Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.292 (Rank: 25) — Strikeout Rate: 20.7% (Rank: 23)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.308 (Rank: 16) — Strikeout Rate: 21.5% (Rank: 24)
Pitchers per PA: 3.72 (Rank: 28)
Analysis: Lynn is making his first start in over two weeks, as he was placed on the DL with a forearm sprain. It’s possible that he could be on some sort of pitch count tonight, but he should throw 90+ pitches regardless. He draws a plus-matchup against the Marlins, who are ranked 25th in wOBA and 23rd in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. The upside is there, but A.J. Burnett is a slightly safer option for cash games.

St. Louis Cardinals Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.328 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 18.8% (Rank: 7)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.353 (Rank: 6) — Strikeout Rate: 19.3% (Rank: 14)
Pitchers per PA: 3.76 (Rank: 20)
Analysis: Haren is pitching at home tonight, which should bode well for him. Haren’s biggest issue has always been giving up too many home runs and tonight he gets to pitch in Marlins Park, which is a tough ballpark to hit home runs in. Even though the ballpark should help his cause, he should still be avoided in all league formats. He draws a difficult matchup against the Cardinals, who are ranked 5th in wOBA and 7th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season.

Last 14 Days: PA: 44 — wOBA: 0.509 — ISO: 0.357 — wRC+: 232
Analysis: Heyward hit another home run in last night’s win, bringing his wOBA up to .509 over the last 14 days. After a slow start to the season, he has found his groove and he’s really producing at a high level right now. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against Dan Haren, who as mentioned above, struggles to keep the ball in the park.

Since the start of the 2014 season, Lance Lynn has held left and right-handed hitters under a .310 wOBA. The Marlins are one of the worst offenses in baseball against right-handed pitching. They are secondary options at best tonight.
