Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.319 (Rank: 16) — Strikeout Rate: 26.8% (Rank: 28)
Pitches per PA: 3.82 (Rank: 14)
Analysis: Samardzija has given up runs in bunches recently, posting an 8.82 ERA (4.32 SIERA) over the last month of play. While he does draw a favorable matchup against the Twins, there are better pitching options on the board tonight. We typically don’t like to target pitchers in bad form, especially when they are not accompanied by a price decrease. Samardzija is a small underdog today on the road and he is a tournament play at best.
Pitcher Rating: 67.3
Kyle Gibson : FD: $6,500 — DK: $7,900

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.315 (Rank: 21) — Strikeout Rate: 16.2% (Rank: 4)
Pitches per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 19)
Analysis: Gibson has not been in the best of form recently, posting a 4.84 SIERA with a strikeout rate of only 15.0% over the last month of play. He draws a decent matchup today against the White Sox, who are ranked 21st in team wOBA and 15th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Even though Jeff Samardzija has a higher rating, Gibson is the better play (dollar for dollar) in this game. That said, both pitchers are easily avoidable in the all-day slate of games.
Pitcher Rating: 56.1

Chicago White Sox
The White Sox draw a mediocre matchup today against Kyle Gibson, who has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .310 wOBA over the last two seasons. If you want to have some exposure to this game, Jose Abreu and Adam Eaton are the top targets in this lineup.

Minnesota
The Twins are small favorites at home in a game that features a total of 8.0 runs. They draw a decent matchup against Jeff Samardzija, who has been awful in his recent starts. While there aren’t any elite plays here, Miguel Sano, Brian Dozier, and Eduardo Escobar are all secondary options.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.363 (Rank: 3) — Strikeout Rate: 23.2% (Rank: 21)
Pitches per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 22)
Analysis: Wisler is the largest underdog on the board tonight, as the Braves take on the Nationals in Washington. Wisler has not pitched well recently, posting a 5.38 SIERA with a strikeout rate of only 13.8%. To make matters worse, he is facing the Nationals at the wrong time, as they are ranked third in team wOBA over the last two weeks of play. He is an easy avoid in all league formats tonight.
Pitcher Rating: 31.7
Jordan Zimmermann : FD: $9,300 — DK: $10,400

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.301 (Rank: 25) — Strikeout Rate: 21.3% (Rank: 19)
Pitches per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: Zimmermann has the highest pitcher rating on the board tonight, thanks to the fact that there aren’t any aces on the bump. He has been in excellent form recently, posting a 3.04 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 25.3%. He also draws a favorable matchup against the Braves, who are ranked 27th in team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. While the Braves do have a low strikeout rate, Zimmermann is the chalk play in cash games tonight.
Pitcher Rating: 92.6

The Braves draw a difficult matchup tonight against Jordan Zimmermann. Atlanta has one of the lowest team totals on the board. Freddie Freeman is a decent secondary option at first base, but the rest of the Braves can safely be avoided in all league formats.

The Nationals are a sneaky offense to target tonight. The total for the game is low, but they are the biggest favorites on the board. Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.354 (Rank: 4) — Strikeout Rate: 23.1% (Rank: 20)
Pitches per PA: 3.74 (Rank: 26)
Analysis: Liriano comes into tonight’s start in his worst form of the season. Over the last month of play, he has a 4.68 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 19.2% and a walk rate of 12.0%. Once again, we typically don’t like to target pitchers in bad form, especially when they are not priced at a discount. Liriano is still the second-highest rated pitcher on the board tonight, but Jordan Zimmermann is the safer play of the two.

Pitches per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 18)
Analysis: Jungmann has enjoyed a fine rookie season, posting a 3.83 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.5%. He gets to pitch in the friendly confines of Miller Park tonight and he faces a Pirates’ offense that is ranked below the major league average in both team wOBA and strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Jungmann is an intriguing tournament play tonight, but he is a bit too risky to use in cash games.

The Pirates are sizable favorites tonight against Taylor Jungmann. While their team total may not be the highest on the board, they do see a small ballpark boost playing in Miller Park. The Brewers draw a tough matchup against Francisco Liriano, but he has not pitched well recently and when his command is off, it allows opponents to get plenty of runners on base. He has been in relatively good form recently, posting a 4.26 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 18.1% over the last month of play. He is a sizable favorite tonight at home, but he draws a difficult matchup against the Tigers, who are ranked sixth in team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. He may pick up a win tonight, but his upside is extremely limited.

The Royals have one of the highest team totals on the board tonight, as they square off against Matt Boyd at home. San Francisco
The Giants have the highest team total on the schedule tonight, as they square off against Chris Rusin in Coors Field. Rusin has given up a .346 wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters this season. Basically, any player in the Giants’ lineup tonight deserves fantasy consideration on this short slate.
