FanDuel Playboy Mansion Championship Recap

Link to live final

Congratulations to justinmacmahan for winning the 2016 FanDuel MLB Playboy Mansion Championship! He needed a late home run from Mark Trumbo to overcome a great showing from bcalicore but once he took the lead he held on for the victory and the $100,000 first place prize. Rounding out the top five were the aforementioned bcalicore in second place, Alarm in third place, tgs1976 in fourth place, and slicknick2233 in fifth. Other top finishes included draftcheat (chripe01) in sixth, tommyg1979 in tenth, and jeffeljefe in 12th. Bigpapagates would lead for the majority of the day but would end up dropping to 13th when it was all said and done. Here’s a look at the final top ten and justinmacmahan’s winning lineup:

A Mark Trumbo homer has moved justinmacmahan into the lead and also moved Alarm into third and slicknick2233 into fifth place. Bcalicore still sits in second but might be mumbling to himself a bit after the Trumbo homer changed his position. In addition to Trumbo, justinmacmahan rode a strong Astros stack to his current top score. We’ll be back if there are any more lead changes or when the tournament concludes with the final results and winning lineup. Here’s how it stands right now:

Bcalicore continues to lead and just needs to fade some late inning heroics from the likes of Mark Trumbo, Joe Panik, and Hyun Soo Kim to hold onto the title.

Bcalicore has taken a huge lead of over 20 points on the strength of a Rays-Mets stack that has six players in double figures in fpts including 20+ from three of the Rays players (Logan Morrison, Evan Longoria, Steve Souza). Add in 50+ points from his four Mets players and even despite having Chris Sale as his pitcher, he has a comfortable lead as we head into the home stretch. There are some RG members lurking with jeffeljefe sitting in third place and draftcheat (chripe01) sitting in ninth.

For the first time in a while we have a new leader as justinmacmahan has surged into the lead on the strength of a Steven Wright win and 36 fpts as well as an Astros stack that saw good games come from Evan Gattis and Colby Rasmus. It’s still a battle for the top spot however as there are numerous players within striking distance with 7 games still going (4 about to conclude including the recently restarted Rays-Twins game).

Despite a bad game from Chris Sale and the game he game stacked being in a rain delay, bigpapagates continues to lead albeit by the slimmest of margins over a group of players. The top 10 are currently all within 10 points of him with chrislaw1234 and his Red Sox stack lurking less than a point behind. There are three games left to kick off with the majority of the early start games coming to a close. The Yankees-Orioles game is the one that will impact the conclusion of this event the most as the other two games were avoided for the most part.

Bigpapagates continues to lead but there are four other teams in triple figures and within striking distance although Chris Sale has started to add some points to his total after a slow start which will make things tougher for the teams looking to pass him.

Bigpapagates, a regular at the top of DFS GPP’s, is the current leader. He took a unique, contrarian, approach and stacked the Rays-Twins game with Chris Sale as his pitcher. It’s paid off so far as four hitters in that game have given him double digit scores including 20+ from Hank Conger, Eduardo Nunez, and Steve Souza – all of whom are 5% owned or less.
