Lance McCullers : FD: $6,700 — DK: $8,800
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 76.1 — SIERA: 3.43 — ERA: 2.48 — K%: 25.0% — BB%: 8.7% — HR/9: 0.4

Texas Rangers Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.323 (Rank: 8) — Strikeout Rate: 19.4% (Rank: 12)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.325 (Rank: 11) — Strikeout Rate: 20.3% (Rank: 15)
Pitchers per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 16)
Analysis: McCullers has had a tremendous rookie season, posting a 2.48 ERA (3.43 SIERA) with a strikeout rate of 25.0%. He does walk a lot of batters, but we can live with it as long as he is striking out one in every four batters that he faces. He draws a difficult matchup tonight against the Rangers, who are ranked eighth in team wOBA against right-handed pitching. The price point may be appealing, but he has to face a capable offense in a hitter-friendly ballpark.
Pitcher Rating:72.7
Colby Lewis : FD: $7,000 — DK: $7,700
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 302.2 — SIERA: 4.15 — ERA: 4.85 — K%: 17.8% — BB%: 5.6% — HR/9: 1.2

Houston Astros Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.324 (Rank: 7) — Strikeout Rate: 24.4% (Rank: 30)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.371 (Rank: 2) — Strikeout Rate: 16.8% (Rank: 4)
Pitchers per PA: 3.86 (Rank: 9)
Analysis: Lewis hasn’t been as bad as his 5.34 ERA over the last month would suggest, but he’s still not a pitcher that should be on our radar anytime soon. He has struggled with hitters from both sides of the plate this season and tonight he faces an Astros’ offense that leads the majors in home runs. Lewis is an easy pitcher to avoid in all league formats tonight.
Pitcher Rating:47.9
Batter Grind Down
Houston
As mentioned above, the Astros lead the majors in home runs this season. They could add to that total tonight, as Colby Lewis has given up 1.2 home runs per nine innings over the last two seasons. Lewis has also given up a .329+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters during that stretch, which puts batters from both sides of the plate in play here.

Texas
The sample size is still relatively small, but Lance McCullers has held left and right-handed hitters under a .300 wOBA this season. While this may not be the best matchup on the board, the Rangers do get to face McCullers in the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park. Prince Fielder, Mitch Moreland, Adrian Beltre are all secondary options at their respective positions.

Milwaukee Brewers Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.306 (Rank: 19) — Strikeout Rate: 20.5% (Rank: 20)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.273 (Rank: 27) — Strikeout Rate: 21.9% (Rank: 22)
Pitchers per PA: 3.71 (Rank: 27)
Analysis: Ross has pitched well in his recent starts, posting a 2.66 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 26.0% over the last month of play. He had a thigh injury that shortened his last start, but it sounds like he should be ready to go for tonight’s game against the Brewers. The Brewers have been a subpar offense all season long and that’s only going to get worse now that they have traded away Carlos Gomez and Gerardo Parra. Ross has good strikeout upside in this matchup and he makes an excellent tournament play on both FanDuel and DraftKings.
Pitcher Rating:80.4
Wily Peralta : FD: $6,800 — DK: $5,800
Pitching Stats:

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.303 (Rank: 21) — Strikeout Rate: 20.7% (Rank: 17)
Pitchers per PA: 3.82 (Rank: 13)
Analysis: Peralta has been a good starter for the Brewers over the last two seasons, posting a 3.80 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 17.6%. The biggest problem with Peralta is that he is a fly-ball pitcher that struggles to keep the ball in the park. The good news is that the Padres don’t hit a ton of home runs and they strikeout at the fifth-highest rate against right-handed pitching this season. This is the perfect matchup for Peralta, but this is only his second start in over a month, so rust could be an issue.
Pitcher Rating:58.1
Batter Grind Down
San Diego
The Padres’ offense has been a little better recently, but they are still one of the worst hitting teams against right-handed pitching. They see a favorable ballpark shift playing in Miller Park, but their matchup against Wily Peralta is mediocre at best. The Padres should be considered secondary options tonight.

The Brewers draw a difficult matchup against Tyson Ross, who has really pitched well over the last month of play. Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.365 (Rank: 3) — Strikeout Rate: 24.1% (Rank: 28)
Pitchers per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: Karns has pitched well in his recent starts, posting a 3.33 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 23.2%. He has improved his command as the season has progressed and he has kept his strikeout rate well above the 20% mark that we like to see from our starting pitchers. The issue here is his matchup. After three months of disappointment, the White Sox offense has caught fire recently, ranking third in team wOBA over the last 14 days. If this game was at home, it would be another story, but I will avoid Karns on the road tonight against a red-hot White Sox offense.

Pitchers per PA: 3.85 (Rank: 10)
Analysis: There are quite a few aces on the mound tonight, but none of them have a matchup that makes them a must start. If you want to go the contrarian route in cash games or in tournaments, Quintana is a great alternative. He has really pitched well over the last month of play, posting a 2.52 SIERA with a 23.0% strikeout rate. The Rays have hit left-handed pitching well this season, but we have seen Quintana dominate lineups that are much more talented than Tampa Bay’s. He is a strong play tonight at his price point.

The Rays hit left-handed pitching well as a team, but they draw a difficult matchup against Jose Quintana, who has been very sharp in his recent starts. Quintana has held both left and right-handed hitters in check in his career, which makes the Rays secondary options at best tonight.

Analysis: It’s funny how big of an impact a ballpark can have on pitching. If this game was being played in Safeco Field, Hernandez would be the chalk play in cash games tonight. With this game being played in Coors Field, he is a tournament play at best. We never like to target pitchers in Coors Field, especially in cash games. Coors Field is one of the few ballparks in all of baseball where we can actively target hitters against a pitcher the caliber of Felix Hernandez. Tyler Wilson : FD: $5,200 — DK: $4,500
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 17.0 — SIERA: 4.97 — ERA: 2.12 — K%: 5.9% — BB%: 4.4% — HR/9: 0.0
Oakland Athletics Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.306 (Rank: 19) — Strikeout Rate: 17.5% (Rank: 4)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.266 (Rank: 28) — Strikeout Rate: 16.2% (Rank: 2)
Pitchers per PA: 3.87 (Rank: 7)
Analysis: Wilson will be making his second career start tonight. Since his major league sample is so small, let’s take a look at how well he performed in the minors. In 16 starts at the Triple-A level this season, Wilson posted a 3.76 FIP with a strikeout rate of 15.7%. Those numbers aren’t terrible, but they aren’t anything to write home about either (do we say text home about these days? Tweet home about?). I like to take a wait-and-see approach with most young pitchers and that’s exactly what I will do with Wilson.
Pitcher Rating:45.5
Jesse Chavez : FD: $7,600 — DK: $6,800
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 260.2 — SIERA: 3.70 — ERA: 3.49 — K%: 21.3% — BB%: 7.3% — HR/9: 0.9
Last 30 Days: IP: 25.1 — SIERA: 4.06 — ERA: 5.33 — K%: 19.0% — BB%: 6.9% — HR/9: 1.4
Baltimore Orioles Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.321 (Rank: 9) — Strikeout Rate: 22.3% (Rank: 28)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.315 (Rank: 15) — Strikeout Rate: 21.7% (Rank: 21)
Pitchers per PA: 3.83 (Rank: 12)
Analysis: Chavez has not been sharp in his recent outings, posting a 5.33 ERA (4.06 SIERA) with a strikeout rate of 19.0%. He draws a favorable strikeout matchup against the Orioles, but they are a top ten team in terms of wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. I see Chavez as a boom or bust fantasy option tonight, which means we can avoid him in cash games and throw him out there as a flier in tournaments.

Baltimore
The Orioles would be much better fantasy options if this game was being played in Camden Yards. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The total for this game is set at only 7.5 runs, which says a lot given the two starting pitchers. The Orioles should be considered secondary options tonight against Jesse Chavez.

Oakland
The A’s draw a decent matchup tonight against Tyler Wilson, who is making his second career major league start. The A’s offense has really struggled to score runs recently, but maybe they can get it going tonight against the young, right-hander. Billy Burns, Stephen Vogt, and Ike Davis are all secondary fantasy options.
