Chris Sale : FD: $11,800 — DK: $13,200
Pitching Stats:

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.273 (Rank: 29) — Strikeout Rate: 18.5% (Rank: 10)
Pitchers per PA: 3.96 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Sale is the chalk play in cash games tonight. He has been absolutely dominant over the last two seasons, posting a 2.45 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 31.2%. He draws a favorable matchup against a reeling Red Sox team that has not hit left-handed pitching well this season. The fact that this game is being played in Fenway Park may scare some people off, but a favorable ballpark isn’t going to help the Red Sox avoid striking out. Sale has double-digit strikeout potential every time he takes the mound and the White Sox offense is finally giving their pitching staff some run support.
Pitcher Rating:97.3
Steven Wright : FD: $5,700 — DK: $4,000
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 73.2 — SIERA: 4.00 — ERA: 4.15 — K%: 16.9% — BB%: 7.0% — HR/9: 1.5

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.321 (Rank: 13) — Strikeout Rate: 24.4% (Rank: 26)
Pitchers per PA: 3.76 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: Wright is an average-right-handed pitcher that has to face a red-hot White Sox offense in a hitter-friendly ballpark. The White Sox have put up runs in bunches in this series and who’s to say that they can’t continue their offensive onslaught tonight? Wright is a large underdog tonight and he has very limited upside. He can be avoided in all league formats.
Pitcher Rating:43.7

Chicago White Sox
The White Sox have scored 28 runs in the first three games of this series, and no, that is not a typo. Their offense has feasted on the Red Sox pitching staff. They should be able to get to Steven Wright early, and if so, they will get to face a very tired bullpen. The usual cast of characters is in play tonight in Fenway.

Analysis: Burnett has not been in the best of form recently, posting a 4.68 ERA (3.81 SIERA) with a low strikeout rate of 16.3% over the last month of play. He draws a difficult matchup against the Reds, who are ranked sixth in team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Burnett may be a favorite tonight, but he’s a bit overpriced for his matchup. He’s a deep tournament play at best.

Analysis: Holmberg has 30 major league innings under his belt in his career. Over that stretch, he has a 5.32 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 13.1%. He has similar numbers in his minor league starts, which makes him an easy target tonight. He should be avoided in all league formats, while the Pirates are one of the top offenses on the board.

The Pirates draw a favorable matchup tonight against David Holmberg in the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark. It’s expected to be a warm night in Cincinnati and it looks like there will be a helping wind out to center field. All of the right-handed hitters in the Pirates lineup are in play tonight against the young southpaw.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.315 (Rank: 14) — Strikeout Rate: 16.8% (Rank: 4)
Pitchers per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 19)
Analysis: Rusin has actually pitched well recently with a 3.62 SIERA and a strikeout rate of 16.4% over the last month of play. Unfortunately, that shouldn’t be enough to persuade us into targeting him tonight. The Rockies are one of the largest underdogs on the schedule. The Cardinals may not hit left-handed pitching well, but Rusin hasn’t been very effective against hitters from either side of the plate. Avoid Rusin in all league formats tonight.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.363 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 18.2% (Rank: 8)
Pitchers per PA: 3.75 (Rank: 22)
Analysis: Martinez is one of the top pitching options on the board tonight. If you want to take a different route than Chris Sale or need a reliable SP2, Martinez is a great option. He has a 3.43 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 23.4% over the last two seasons. He pitches well at home and he gets to face a Rockies’ offense that is not the same away from Coors Field. The price is expensive, but given the matchup, you can easily justify targeting him in both cash games and tournaments.

Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.349 (Rank: 2) — Strikeout Rate: 18.9% (Rank: 12)
Pitchers per PA: 3.79 (Rank: 16)
Analysis: Pineda is not priced to match the type of production that he has put up over the last two seasons. During that stretch, he has a 3.04 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.6%, yet he is still only $8,100 on DraftKings. His matchup against the Rangers is a difficult one though, as they are ranked seventh in team wOBA against right-handed pitching and second in team wOBA over the last 14 days of action. I love taking advantage of mis-priced players, but the tough matchup makes it tough to do in anything other than a tournament.

Analysis: Gallardo had that long stretch without giving up a run, but since then he has really hit a wall. Over the last month, he has a 5.80 SIERA with a low strikeout rate of 11.2%. Tonight he draws one of the worst matchups on the board, as the Yankees are ranked fifth in team wOBA and eighth in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. There is downside than upside tonight with Gallardo.

J.A. Happ : FD: $6,500 — DK: $5,300
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 262.1 — SIERA: 4.03 — ERA: 4.25 — K%: 18.9% — BB%: 7.3% — HR/9: 1.1
Last 30 Days: IP: 25.2 — SIERA: 4.80 — ERA: 5.96 — K%: 15.5% — BB%: 10.0% — HR/9: 1.1
Minnesota Twins Offense (2015)
vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.303 (Rank: 17) — Strikeout Rate: 19.4% (Rank: 7)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.284 (Rank: 25) — Strikeout Rate: 22.7% (Rank: 23)
Pitchers per PA: 3.80 (Rank: 15)
Analysis: Happ is one of the most hittable left-handed pitchers in baseball. Over the last month of play, he has a 5.96 ERA (4.80 SIERA) with a walk rate that is nearly as high as his strikeout rate. The Twins may not be the best offense in baseball, but they are more than adequate against left-handed pitching. Happ is cheap, but as often the case in life, you get what you pay for.
Pitcher Rating:44.9
Phil Hughes : FD: $7,600 — DK: $6,800
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 340.1 — SIERA: 3.59 — ERA: 3.68 — K%: 18.7% — BB%: 2.0% — HR/9: 1.0

Seattle Mariners Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.302 (Rank: 23) — Strikeout Rate: 21.7% (Rank: 25)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.337 (Rank: 8) — Strikeout Rate: 19.5% (Rank: 13)
Pitchers per PA: 3.88 (Rank: 4)
Analysis: Hughes has been very difficult to predict recently. He’ll have a good outing one night and then get lit up in his next start. We like to see consistency from our starting pitchers and that’s just not what Hughes brings to the table. He should be avoided against the Mariners, who are ranked eighth in team wOBA over the last 14 days.
Pitcher Rating:58.5

Seattle
Robinson Cano is not expected to be in the lineup tonight, but the Mariners are still in a good spot. They draw a favorable matchup against Phil Hughes, who is an extreme fly-ball pitcher. Hughes is also a reverse-splits pitcher, so give the advantage to the hitters than can hit from the right side of the plate.
