Porcello has a solid, 3.47 ERA after nine starts this season. He has been great for the Red Sox this year as his SIERA sits at 3.56 and his strikeout rate at 23%. The problem today is the tough matchup against the Blue Jays whose offense is starting to come around and he has to face them in hitter friendly Rogers Centre. He is way to expensive to trust him in this setting.

Stroman has been a pitching very well this year, outside of his hiccup against the Rays two starts ago. He has a 3.80 SIERA on the season, yet his strikeout rate now sits at just 16.2%. He, like Porcello, has a very difficult matchup against the best offense in baseball in a hitters park. While there are two good pitchers going, this game has a projected run total of 8.5, with the Blue Jays as slight favorites. It is hard to trust either pitcher, but Stroman is very cheap at DK making him a decent tournament option.
Batter Grind Down
Boston
Stroman is allowing lefties a wOBA of .304 on the year while keeping righties to a .260 wOBA. The Red Sox have a run total of just 4.10, which is the 15th highest of the day. The offense can get going against anyone, but there are much better matchups to target in the early slate.

Rodon has pitched well this season even though he comes into this game with an ERA of 4.47. His advanced statistics show a solid 3.84 SIERA and a 22% strikeout rate. He gets a better matchup against the Royals then in years past as they are ranked just 25th in wOBA and ISO, but still are striking out at a very low rate against lefties (18.2%). Rodon can be used as a tournament play at his price.

Ventura has struggled this season as he comes into this game with a 5.73 SIERA to go along with a career low 15.4% strikeout rate. The White Sox are not the most intimidating offense in the league and Ventura is a slight favorite in this game. With that said, the lack of strikeouts are a concern for fantasy purposes giving him a very low ceiling for the day slate, but is very cheap across the industry making him a viable tournament play.
Batter Grind Down
Chicago White Sox
Ventura has allowed a .321+ wOBA from both sides of the plate this year. The White Sox are slight underdogs today, and have the ninth lowest team total at just 3.91. The have a few decent plays, but they are one of the lower projected offenses of the day slate.

Eickhoff has been a good, young pitcher for the Phillies this year. He has a 3.86 ERA (3.91 SIERA) and is coming off one of his best starts this year against the lowly Braves. He gets a much tougher matchup against the Cubs who rank second in runs per game and third in team wOBA against righties. His strikeout rate is at 19.3%, but the matchup is too difficult against the Cubs today to give him a look as he is by far the biggest underdog on the day.

Hendricks has been much better than his 2-4 record shows. He has a SIERA of 3.50 after eight starts and a 20.3% strikeout rate. He has a good matchup against the Phillies who rank 27th and 26th in team wOBA and ISO respectively. Hendricks makes for a solid mid-ranged option on the early slate as the biggest favorite of the day.

Hendricks has pitched very well this year as shown by the fact that he has kept batters from both sides of the plate to a wOBA under .267. The Phillies feature a low scoring offense and have a projected run total of just 4.08. You can avoid their bats today.

Boyd has only made one extended relief appearance this year in late April when he went 4.2 innings while not allowing any runs. Boyd struggled last year making 12 starts with a SIERA of 4.83, but more notably a 17.1% strikeout rate. Even in a good matchup against the Athletics who rank 27th in team wOBA against lefties, Boyd is a pitcher to avoid today.

Hahn is not someone we need to target much in any fantasy formats. Notably, his lack of strikeouts is an easy reason to avoid him as he has just an 8.9% K rate this year and had a 15.8% rate last year. Facing a good Tigers offense makes Hahn an easy pitcher to pass over today.
Batter Grind Down
Detroit
Hahn has struggled to get batters from both sides of the plate out as he has allowed a wOBA of .321+ to both righties and lefties. The Tigers have been a solid offense this year that is ranked fifth and seventh in wOBA and ISO respectively against righties. Yet, they have a team total of just 4.13 (14th) making them an average offense to target on the day slate.

Oakland
Oakland has a projected team total of 4.37, which is the ninth highest total of the day and seventh highest of the early slate. Oakland can be used for value offense plays in the top of the order as they are cheap and in a good spot today.

Jimenez has had a very tough string of starts as he has allowed at least four earned runs in four of his last five starts. This has pushed his ERA up to 6.04 on the season, which is a bit higher than his 4.04 SIERA, but he is not someone we can trust at this point against a Cleveland offense that is ranked 12th in both wOBA and ISO. He is not a starter we want to take in the day slate.

Salazar has been good this season as he comes into this game with a 3.50 SIERA and an elite 30.3% strikeout rate. He has a tough matchup against the Orioles, but his strikeout rate to start the season makes him a top target anytime he takes the mound. He is a decent sized favorite today against the Orioles and makes for the top high priced pitcher in the day slate.
Batter Grind Down
Baltimore
Salazar has kept batters from both sides of the plate to a wOBA of under .266. The Orioles have a projected team total of just 3.70, which is the sixth lowest of the entire day. Their offense is too expensive for the matchup and should be avoided.
