Escobar is coming off his first career start and it did not go well against Houston as he allowed seven earned runs in his first 3.1 innings pitched. It does not get much easier for the young lefty as he now has to take on the Cubs who are ranked fourth in team wOBA against left handed pitching making Escobar in an easy avoid in a game with a total of nine.

Hammel came out after just two innings in his first start of the week and the club said it was simply cramps. He will look to make up for those lost innings this week as he looks to take on a Diamondbacks offense that is ranked ninth in team wOBA against right-handed pitching. Hammel has been solid this season as he has a SIERA of 4.23 as well as a good strikeout rate of 22.1%. He makes a solid option on the day slate as the Cubs are the highest favorite on the day slate a -270. Hammel should be in line for the win today and makes for a great cheaper play if you don’t want to pay up for Strasburg or Sale.
Batter Grind Down
Arizona
Hammel has allowed a .337 wOBA to lefties so if you are going to use any Diamondbacks today they should come from that side of the plate as he has shut down righties (.234 wOBA). Yet, the Diamondbacks have the third lowest total of the entire day and their offense should be avoided for the most part.

Guerra has been a decent source of value early on in the season. After six starts, he holds an ERA of 3.47 (3.80 SIERA) and a high 24.7% strikeout rate. He has a solid matchup against the Phillies who are ranked 28th and 27th in team wOBA and ISO against right-handed pitching. Guerra is still priced extremely low across the industry making him a solid value play on the day slate in all formats.

Hellickson has pitched well during the month of May. He had a 3.58 ERA as he went to a 2-2 record. His SIERA on the season sits at a very solid 3.39 and a great strikeout rate of 25.2%, which gives him great upside in a good matchup against the Brewers who are ranked in the middle of the league in both wOBA and ISO against righties. At his price on Fanduel, he is a decent play, but I would rather use his counter part in the matchup today.
Batter Grind Down
Milwaukee
Hellickson has struggled this year to get lefties out as he has allowed a wOBA of .350 to left handed batters. This Brewers squad has a below average team run total of 3.94 today, which is the tenth lowest on the entire slate.

Chacin is coming off his best start of the season for his new squad as he went complete, allowed just one earned run and had ten strikeouts. He will look to continue that momentum today against a Pirates squad that is ranked sixth in team wOBA against righties. His advanced statistics are solid as he sports a SIERA of 3.67 and has a strikeout rate of 21.2% on the year. He makes a decent value play today for tournaments at his cheap price, but I would rather use Guerra at a similar price point.

Locke is coming off by far his best start of the season. Yet, his strikeout rate of 13.0% this year takes away most of his upside in daily fantasy and requires him to have a perfect start in order to reach value. His matchup today is solid against an Angels squad that has struggled offensively this year as they are ranked 28th in both ISO and wOBA against lefties. With so many other good, cheap options on the day slate, Locke is a tough play today in all formats due to the low upside.
Batter Grind Down
LA Angels
Locke has kept lefties at bay this year (.263 wOBA), but has struggled to get righties out as he has allowed a wOBA of .352. The Angels bats came alive yesterday, which could make them a sneaky stack again today.

Chacin has pitched well this year as he has kept batters to a wOBA of under .297 from both sides of the plate. Yet, the Pirates come into this game with a projected run total of 4.40, which is the tenth highest of the day. With so many good offenses going on the day slate, the Pirates are really the sixth or seventh best to target and could be a contrarian tournament stack if you think the wheels fall off Chacin today.

Stroman got blasted by Boston in his last start, making it the second time in three games that he has allowed seven earned runs. He will look to bounce back today and has some good season statistics as he comes into this game with a 3.85 SIERA, but his strikeout rate sits at just a 16.4% rate. This takes his value down considerably in what is one of the toughest matchups on the board against a Boston team that leads the league in many offensive categories. This game features a very high total making the pitchers a rough option.

Wright comes into this game as a serviceable starter as he has a 2.45 ERA on the year. Some regression is in order as his SIERA is 4.20, but his 21.7% strikeout rate does give him some upside is good matchups. This is not that type of matchup as the Blue Jays are ranked 12th and eighth in team wOBA and ISO respectively. Wright is way to expensive for this matchup today.

The Red Sox have the second highest projected team run total on the day making them a great offense to target in all formats. He has allowed a wOBA of .315 to lefties and .294 to righties on the year and they have the fifth lowest strikeout rate in the league. They should be able to get to Stroman today as they should put the ball in play a lot.

Sale is in line to be the first 10 game winner today as he faces off in a tough matchup against the Tigers who are ranked 21st and 18th in team wOBA and ISO respectivley. Sale is an elite option any time he takes the mound as he has a SIERA of 3.40 and a great strikeout rate of 25.2%. He is the most expensive option on the day slate and for good reason as he is a big favorite and should get some run support against Pelfrey. He is not a must play as Strasburg is a solid option and Hammel is a huge favorite for must cheaper today as well.

Pelfrey is a target when he takes the mound as he sports an ERA close to five (5.09 SIERA) and is not someone we want to use as a pitcher as his strikeout rate is extremely low at 12.0%. He is an easy avoid in all formats today.

Sale has kept batters to a wOBA of under .240 from both sides of the plate. The Tigers are an easy avoid today as they have the fourth lowest team total on the day. One interesting stat is the fact that is 16/34 with four home runs against Sale. You can use him as a deep tournament flyer as he should be extremely low owned against Sale.
