Eflin is making his major league debut, but the Phillies did him no favors by choosing today as his first start. Not only will this be played in an American League ballpark, but he has to face a loaded Blue Jays’ lineup on the road. In 11 minor league starts this season, Eflin posted a 2.90 ERA with a strikeout rate just over 20%. Given the fact that he is a huge underdog in a difficult matchup, he is an easy fade in all league formats.

Stroman hasn’t been sharp over the last month of play, posting a 7.58 ERA with a strikeout rate of only 11.5%. He is still producing a lot of ground balls, but he is getting less outs by the way of the strikeout this season and his hard hit contact rate is way up. He draws a potential bounce back matchup today against the Phillies, who are ranked 28th in team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Stroman should be able to pick up a win here and could make sense as an SP2 on DraftKings if you are playing in the all-day slate.

The Phillies played well last night against , but are still one of the worst offenses in baseball. The Blue Jays were a complete bust on a night where basically every offense was scoring ten or more runs. They will look to bounce back today against , who is making his major league debut. Eflin is a right-handed pitcher that didn’t show a ton of strikeout upside in the minors. The Blue Jays should be able to make good contact against him, especially the second time through the order.

Lackey is having an incredible season for a pitcher at his age. In 12 starts, he owns a 3.31 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 27.1%. He has never been a pitcher that has struggled with his command and he is producing one of the highest swinging strike rates in his career. He is listed as a small favorite tonight against the Nationals, who are ranked right around the major league average in team wOBA and team K% against right-handed pitching. At his price, Lackey is more of a GPP play tonight.

Gonzalez got off to a rough start against the White Sox, but righted the ship and pitched well the rest of the game. Even though his ERA over the last month of play leaves a lot to be desired, he actually has a 3.03 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 28.1% during that stretch. He has just as much upside as , but is considerably cheaper across the industry. Unfortunately, his matchup against the Cubs makes him more of a GPP play as well.

Chicago Cubs
The Cubs are ranked fifth in team wOBA against left-handed pitching this season. While that is promising, they draw a fairly difficult matchup against and they have to face him in the pitcher-friendly Nationals Park. The right-handed hitters in this lineup could be worth a look in tournaments, as Gonzalez has allowed a .318 wOBA and 15 home runs to right-handed batters over the last two seasons.

The Nationals are small underdogs tonight at home against . They come into the game with the 12th lowest run projection of the 30 teams in action. Tillman is having his best season since 2012. In 13 starts, he owns a 3.98 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 24%. Typically, when a pitcher has that big of an increase in his strikeout rate, we like to look at velocity and his swinging strike rate to see if it is sustainable. In addition to a 3.3% increase in his swinging strike rate, Tillman is throwing a lot more sliders this season. While he is worth keeping an eye on moving forward, he is an easy fade tonight against the Red Sox in Fenway Park.

Price isn’t have a great season by ERA standards, but he does own a 3.46 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 26%. Having half of his starts in Fenway Park isn’t helping the issue, but he still offers great upside for a pitcher at his price point. He draws a boom or bust matchup tonight against the Orioles, who are ranked fifth in team ISO and 17th in team K% against left-handed pitching this season. I don’t trust Price as much as or Jacob deGrom, but he is still a top five pitching option tonight and is worth a look in all league formats.

There are a lot of reasons to like the Red Sox offense tonight. They are ranked first in team wOBA and third in team ISO against right-handed pitching. Remember when I said that last night’s Reds/Braves game would be high scoring? Wow, I wasn’t expecting the two to combine for 17 runs. Tonight’s game should be much different, as the over/under is set at only 7.5 runs. Finnegan has had a couple of good starts this season, but has mostly been a disappointment. He owns a 5.14 SIERA with a strikeout rate of only 16.3%. He draws a great matchup against the Braves, but isn’t on my radar tonight. He needs to cut down on his walks before I consider targeting him in DFS.

The stars seem to be aligning for a strong performance from Teheran tonight. He comes into the game in great form, posting a 3.54 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 24.4% over the last month of play. He is also pitching at home, where his numbers are drastically better over the course of his career. The final piece of the puzzle is his matchup. On the season, the Reds are ranked 24th in team wOBA and 22nd in team K% against right-handed pitching. Teheran is a viable play in all league formats tonight.

The Reds have the fifth lowest implied run projection tonight, as they square off against in the pitcher-friendly Turner Field. This is not the best matchup on the board, although Teheran has really struggled against left-handed hitters. Over the last two seasons, he has allowed a .370 wOBA and 25 home runs to lefties. You can give a look to and in GPPs.

Taillon is making his second career major league start. In his first outing, he allowed three earned runs in six innings of work. He’s had quite a bit of success in the minors this season, posting 2.04 ERA with a strikeout rate of 25.9% in ten starts. He is still a wildcard for DFS at this point and given the fact that he is a large underdog on the road, he can be avoided in both cash games and GPPs.

The velocity is back to where is was a season ago and we are slowly seeing more swings and misses. He grades out as the second best pitching option on the board tonight, but he is considerably cheaper than . DeGrom is in play in all league formats and using him over Bumgarner allows you to fit a few more bats into your lineup.
