Rumors of Sanchez being sent to the bullpen to preserve innings died pretty quickly, as the Blue Jays are going to go with a six man rotation now. His season-long owners have to be happy, as he has had a great year. Sanchez comes into this game with a 2.71 ERA (3.70 SIERA) and 20.8% strikeout rate and now faces off against a Royals squad that is ranked 27th and 29th in wOBA and ISO respectively against righties. He makes a solid start tonight as a small favorite, but his price is tough in a matchup against the Royals ace.

Duffy had the best start of his young career earlier this week, as he went eight shutout innings with 16 strikeouts against the Rays. The problem today is a tougher matchup against the Blue Jays, who rank 11th in wOBA and seventh in ISO against lefties. Even so, Duffy has been great this year, sporting a 3.02 SIERA and elite 29.2% strikeout rate. The upside is there for Duffy, making him a solid start in tournaments, but the price, is very tough to play at DraftKings.
Batter Grind Down
Toronto
Duffy’s price is hard to pay, as he has allowed a .300 wOBA to righties on the year. This is going to make replicating his last performance tough, as he will have to mow through possibly eight righties tonight. With that said, given Duffy’s success this year, this is one of those situations that is hard to read, and I don’t want to pay the prices for the Blue Jays against Duffy tonight.

The Marlins have the second-highest team total on the board today behind the Rockies at 5.66 runs. Bettis has been a reverse splits pitcher this year, allowing a .356 wOBA to righties (.316 to lefties), which bodes well for Stanton to hit the monster bomb we thought would happen last night.

Cashner has allowed a wOBA of .336 to lefties and .352 to righties on the year. The Rockies have the highest team total on the board today at 5.84 runs, putting their entire offense into play, as I do not think the low scoring at Coors continues two days in a row.

Corbin has yet to find the form from last year, as he has now made 22 starts and has a 4.54 SIERA to show for it. His 17.4% strikeout rate leaves a lot to be desired as well. He does get a decent matchup against a Brewers squad that strikes out at a 24.5% clip against lefties, but Vegas has this as a very high scoring game. Both pitchers can be avoided.

Thompson will be making his MLB debut tonight for the Phillies and makes it in a decent spot, as he faces the Padres in San Diego. He is the Phillies top pitching prospect at 22 years of age and has been solid in Triple A, posting a 1.21 ERA over the last few months. He is not available at the major sites today but is certainly someone to keep an eye on moving forward.

Clemens has made four starts this year and has a 5.39 SIERA on the year with a 18.6% strikeout. He takes on a Phillies squad that is ranked 28th in wOBA and 29th in runs per game. He should not be on anyone’s radar.
Batter Grind Down
Philadelphia
Attacking righties against Clemens has worked so far, as he has allowed a huge .470 wOBA to them in a small sample size this year. The Phillies have a 4.20-run total tonight, making the bats hitting at the top of the order worth targeting as value plays.

San Diego
The Padres are small favorites tonight in a game with an 8.5-run total. Vegas has them projected at 4.30 runs against the young righty. It is always tough to predict a young pitcher’s first start, but throwing out some Padres values could work if you want to take the risk.

Skaggs has been stellar in his first two starts this year. He has yet to allow a run in his two starts and has 13 strikeouts over 12.1 innings pitched. He gets a tough matchup tonight against the Mariners, who have some power-hitting righties, yet this game is projected to be one of the lower-scoring affairs of the night. At his price, on FanDuel, he makes a great tournament play in order to fit in some of the Coors bats.

Walker has had a solid season, and despite being hit hard in his last start, it didn’t affect his season SIERA of 3.77 too much. He also has 22.4% strikeout rate, which makes him a solid play against an Angels squad that features , , and not much else. At his price, he will be one of the more popular options tonight, and for good reason considering how poor most of the pitchers are on the night slate.

The Angels have the seventh-lowest total of the night as Walker takes the mound. With all the great offenses in great spots, we do not need to focus much on the Angels batters.

Seattle
Whenever the Mariners are playing a lefty, they have some obvious choices in their lineup, such as Gutierrez and Cruz. This rings true again tonight if you want to take the chance on those two righties, but overall, there are much better offenses to target than the Mariners tonight.
