Gonzalez will be called up to make his first start of the season. He made 26 starts as a member of the Orioles in 2015, posting a 4.51 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 17.5% and a walk rate of 8.2%. While he has to be happy to be making another major league start, he is probably wishing that it was against a different opponent. The Blue Jays hit a ton of home runs, which doesn’t bode well for fly ball pitchers. Gonzalez is the second lowest rated pitcher on the schedule tonight.

Stroman is one of the few low strikeout pitchers that is still a viable DFS option. He produces an elite ground ball rate, which allows him to pitch well even in these hitter’s parks that a National League East team has to play in. He doesn’t provide a ton of strikeout upside tonight against the White Sox, but he is a large favorite and his price is more than playable on both FanDuel and DraftKings. I’m not going to start my lineups with Stroman, but he is in play as an SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.

The White Sox see a nice ballpark boost in this series, playing in the hitter-friendly Rogers Centre. They could certainly use any help that they can get, as they currently average the second fewest runs per game this season. The issue with the White Sox tonight is the elite ground ball rate of . It’s difficult to make hard contact against ground ball pitchers.

Since the start of last season, the Blue Jays have had the highest team wOBA and the fourth highest team ISO against right-handed pitching. They have the fifth highest team total on the board tonight, as they square off against at home. Not only does Gonzalez struggle to keep the ball in the park (24 home runs allowed in his last 26 starts), but he has allowed a .332+ wOBA to hitters from both sides of the plate.

Graveman has been sharp in his first three starts of the season, but he had a mediocre SIERA (4.43) with a below-average strikeout rate (15.3%) in his 21 starts in 2015. He doesn’t have great upside overall, especially in a matchup against the Tigers in Detroit. Graveman is listed as a sizable underdog tonight and I have him ranked as the fifth lowest pitching option on the board.

Zimmermann has been tremendous in his first three starts, as he has yet to allow a single run. Regression will certainly rear its ugly head though, as he only has a 4.13 SIERA during that stretch. Zimmermann doesn’t have an elite strikeout rate, but he is a sizable favorite against the A’s, who have struggled against right-handed pitching over the last two seasons. At his price point, he is a viable SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.

He looked sharp in his rehab start at the Triple-A level, striking out nine batters. In 17 starts in 2015, he posted a 3.69 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 21.9%. He draws a great matchup tonight against the Rays, who have been one of the worst hitting teams against right-handed pitching in each of the last two seasons. Gausman isn’t the safest cash game play, but he provides nice upside for tournaments.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Archer has allowed 18 runs in his first four starts of the season and he has yet to get out of the sixth inning in any single outing. Baseball can be random sometimes though, and we shouldn’t be too alarmed. If you look at his SIERA (basically only factors in what a pitcher can control), he is still above the league average. He also has a strikeout rate of 29.6% this season. If he can improve his command, he will get right back to where he was last season. Pitching at home in Tropicana Field should help and tonight is a great night to hop back on the Archer bandwagon before everyone else does. I don’t like him as much as or , but Archer is my third favorite pitching option overall tonight.

The Orioles really hit right-handed pitching well, ranking third in both team wOBA and team ISO over the last two seasons. The issue is that they also strikeout at a very high clip and they are facing one of the best strikeout pitchers in baseball. The Orioles have the fourth lowest team total on the board and as I mentioned above, I’m expecting a big bounce back outing from .

I do expect some regression to hit, but you have to like his outlook tonight against the Braves in a National League ballpark. The Braves are ranked 27th in team wOBA against right-handed pitching. The Braves are one of the worst offenses in baseball. They don’t hit right-handed pitching well, they don’t have any power, and they play in one of the better pitcher’s parks in baseball. and are the only hitters that stand out in this lineup. Since the start of last season, has allowed 30 home runs in only 31 starts.

Iglesias is one of the better young pitchers in the National League and certainly in the Reds’ organization. In his four starts this season, he owns a 3.60 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.5%. He has improved his walk rate and he gets to pitch in a good ballpark tonight against the Mets. The problem is that he is facing arguably the best young pitcher in baseball in . The Reds are the largest underdogs on the board tonight, which makes Iglesias a deep tournament play at best.

Syndergaard, aka Thor, has been untouchable in his first three starts of the season, posting a ridiculous 1.81 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 37.5%. His success should continue tonight against the Reds, who have struggled against right-handed pitching over the last two seasons. At this point, Syndergaard is becoming a lot like in that he is a scary fade every time he takes the mound. He is the premier pitching option tonight and can be targeted in all league formats.

The Mets have an above-average offense. Even though they are huge favorites tonight, I’m not overly thrilled about the prospect of using their hitters against . I will take a hard look at the left-handed hitters in this lineup though, as Iglesias has allowed a .330 wOBA to lefties over the last two seasons.
