Gibson has not pitched well in his first three starts of the season, posting a walk rate (12.2%) that is as high as his strikeout rate (12.2%). He does produce an elite ground ball rate, but comes into tonight’s game as a major underdog on the road. The Nationals are a below-average offense against right-handed pitching, but can ruin any pitcher’s outing with a single swing of his bat.

Gonzalez has cut down on his walks this season and in doing so, has lowered his SIERA and increased his strikeout rate. He is also a ground-ball pitcher that fares well at home in the pitcher-friendly Nationals Park. While the Twins are a capable offense when facing a left-handed pitcher, Gonzalez gets to face them in a National League ballpark. I have him ranked as my third favorite pitcher overall, yet he is the fifth most expensive pitcher on FanDuel and the seventh most expensive pitcher on DraftKings.

They currently have the fifth lowest runs per game and they come into tonight’s contest with the second lowest team total on the board. There aren’t any plays that stand out tonight, as has been fairly tough on both left and right-handed hitters.

Harvey has not been sharp in his first three starts this season. His strikeout way is way down, while he is walking nearly twice as many batters as he did in 2015. There hasn’t been a dip in velocity though, so it’s really more of a command issue. He draws a great matchup for a bounce back outing, as the Braves are one of the worst hitting teams in baseball against right-handed pitching. Harvey has more upside that , but doesn’t have as high of a floor as .

He struggled all of last season trying to make his way back from Tommy John surgery, but looks poised for a strong 2016 campaign. Tomlin was a sneaky play all last season. For whatever reason, people refused to play him, even though the numbers suggested otherwise. In ten starts last year, he posted a 3.46 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.7% and a walk rate of only 3.2%. He pitched well in his first start this season and should be on your radar moving forward. He can be avoided tonight though, as the Tigers present a very difficult matchup.

Verlander’s command has been a bit shaky here in his first three starts, but he is still striking hitters out at higher than a 20% clip. He is listed as a small favorite tonight against the Indians at home. While Cleveland has been good against right-handed pitching thus far, they do have the eighth highest strikeout rate. There are safer plays in cash games, but Verlander is a nice GPP option tonight.

Cleveland
- Indians Offense
Runs Per Game — 3.83 (19 of 30)
Projected Run Total — 4.10 (18 of 30)
The Indians may have the platoon advantage over tonight, but that may actually work against them. Verlander has been a reverse-splits pitcher for most of his career. I’m not going to have a ton of exposure to the Indians tonight, but I will take a strong look at a couple of the right-handed hitters in tournaments.

Detroit
- Tigers Offense
Runs Per Game — 5.15 (4 of 30)
Projected Run Total — 4.40 (7 of 30)
The Tigers have been terrific offensively to start the season, averaging well over five runs per game. They come into tonight’s game with the seventh highest team total on the board at 4.40 runs. However, as I mentioned above, is a better pitcher than most people realize. He, like , allows a much higher wOBA to right-handed hitters even though he is a right-handed pitcher.
