Fulmer has been solid for the Tigers this year, as he has a 2.69 ERA on the season. His SIERA of 4.00 shows some regression is in order as the rest of the season goes on, but tonight may not be the start of that as the Royals are ranked 26th and 30th in wOBA and ISO respectively against right handed pitching.

Ventura has decent stats over the last month as has put up a 2.55 ERA over his last six starts. His SIERA shows some luck may be involved at 4.27. His 19.2% strikeout rate is not terrible, but the matchup is against the Tigers who are ranked fifth in wOBA against right-handed pitching. Unless you want to use him as a deep tournament play at DK, he is someone to avoid.
Batter Grind Down
Detroit
Ventura has allowed a .321 wOBA to lefties and .310 to righties on the year. Yet, the Tigers have the 11th-lowest total of the day at just 3.94 runs. Ventura did pitch well against this Tigers team recently, but doing that twice in a row may be difficult, putting some of the bigger bats in play against him tonight.

Porcello has looked really good over the last month. He has put up a 3.34 SIERA to go along with a solid 24.1% strikeout rate. He gets a solid matchup against the Athletics, who are ranked 26th in wOBA against right handed pitching. While they strike out at a low rate (18.9%), Porcello should get enough run support for the win tonight making him a solid play in all formats.

Neal is not someone to target in any formats. He has a 4.31 SIERA on the year, but more importantly, one of the lowest strikeout rates you will ever see at 9.1%. Against a top offense in Boston, there is no reason to play him tonight.
Update: Neal pitched last night. Mengden will be starting in his place and it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference. Mengden comes into the game with a 5.73 ERA (4.67 SIERA) to go along with his decent 21.7% strikeout rate. He should not be used against the high powered Red Sox offense in any format.

Boston
Neal has allowed a .334 wOBA to lefties and .340 wOBA to righties on the year. The Red Sox have the 11th-highest team total on the day at 4.46 runs. They are always a high-powered offense and in play against any below average pitcher including tonight.
Update: Mengden has allowed a .323 wOBA to lefties and .342 wOBA to righties on the season. The Sox are still a solid play in all formats tonight.

The wheels have fallen off of Skaggs over the last month. He has put up a 7.23 ERA (4.98 SIERA) over his last five starts to go along with a 19.3% strikeout rate. He is a small underdog tonight in a game with an 8.5 run total, making him an easy avoid.

Walker has really struggled as well over the last three starts. He has a 6.88 ERA and 5.87 SIERA during that span to go along with his 10.5% strikeout rate. While the Angels are not too scary of an offense, there is no reason to target Walker until he shows some improvements.
Batter Grind Down
The Angels have a 4.16 projected run total tonight against Walker. With that said, the offense begins and ends with Trout who continues to mash and is an elite play tonight.

Perdomo has been solid over the last five starts, as he has put up a 3.24 ERA (4.34 SIERA), yet his strikeout rate is just 15.6%. The strikeout rate is a major concern for DFS purposes, and his price is not bottom barrel that is was earlier. He is a tough play tonight against the Dodgers, who are ranked ninth in wOBA and eighth in ISO.

Hill came back from injury to pitch a decent six innings with only three strikeouts against the Giants. He now gets what has become a tough matchup against the Padres, who are ranked eighth in both wOBA and ISO against lefties. They have really struggled though against lefties lately (last month 30th in team wOBA) and they are striking out at a 24.8% clip. Hopefully, that will let Hill start cruising tonight and rack up the Ks against the Padres, who have the lowest team total of the entire day. He makes a solid tournament play.
