Felix has begun the season in King Felix fashion after having a rough end to his 2015 campaign. He comes into the game with a sub 1.00 ERA (0.69), but more importantly he has 16 strikeouts in his 13 innings pitched. He gets a tough matchup against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium today, which does bring his value down a bit as well as the fact that he has walked seven batters already in those two starts. There are a few warning signs for Felix this year, but if he can continue to keep his strikeout rate above 25% (Currently 30.2%), he should make a fine tournament play.

is trying to come back from a horrible year as well as that stint he did at the end of the year in rehab. His strikeout rate was at a ten year low last year (18.9) and he gave up way to many home runs (1.51 HR/9). He is not someone you want to target in any format regardless of the price, as his upside is very low in this matchup.

Seattle
Sabathia has been a solid pitcher to target over the last few years as he has been giving up home runs in bunches. Attacking hitters from the right side of the plate has been a solid strategy as he allowed a wOBA of .370 to righties in 2015. make for a clear elite option in the day slate and is one of the top overall outfielders.

NY Yankees
The Yankees offense in New York is always solid, but Felix has always pitched well against them, especially in New York. In 10 starts against them in New York, he holds a 2.04 ERA with 69 strikeouts. Even in a hitter friendly environment, there is little I like on the Yankee side.

Weaver surprised many when he put up a very respectable first start of the season against the Rangers. He only allowed one run on six hits and struck out four batters during this start. With that said, Weaver had the third lowest strikeout rate in the majors last season (13.5%) and his SIERA has dropped lower and lower each of the last five seasons resulting in a horrible 4.88 mark at the end of 2015. There are much safer and better options on the slate.

Both of these pitchers had atrocious 2015 seasons and both pitched well in their 2016 debuts. Last season, Nolasco was an easy target for DFS offenses as he ended the year with a 6.75 ERA. Yet, his SIERA ended at 4.10 and he did have a respectable strike out rate of 20.8%. He is tough to trust and you may want to take a wait and see approach to him early in the season to see if the bad luck his numbers show from last year is true.
Batter Grind Down
LA Angels
The Angels are slight favorites in this game and have a projected team run total of 4.37. Targeting batters from both sides of the plate is a viable option against Nolasco as he allowed a wOBA of .318 to lefties last year and struggled against right-handed bats allowing a wOBA of .407. is always an elite play when matching up with a average to below average pitching option.

Weaver struggled equally from both sides of the plate in 2015 (.333/.326 wOBAs). Minnesota has had a rough start to the season as they have a .261 team wOBA to begin the year. Yet, they do have some power in this offense making in play after finally getting an extra base hit last night along with and who is on a six game hit streak.

Finnegan has really impressed to start the season. He comes into this game with a 3.65 SIERA (2.84 ERA) and a high strikeout rate of 28.6%. His second start showed he can hang with some big league offenses as well as he had 12 swinging strikes and only allowed two earned runs to a high powered Cubs lineup. With a high strikeout rate, Finnegan can be looked at as a solid mid-ranged option today.

Waino has struggled out of the gates this season as he comes into this game giving up eight earned runs in only 11 innings pitched. This has resulted in a SIERA of 6.76 along with a very concerning 9.8% strikeout rate. Hopefully for Cardinals fans Wainwright will begin to turn things around and again become the ace of the staff he once was and against the Reds offense that comes into this game with a team wOBA of .277 against righties.
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
The Reds offense gets a tough matchup against Wainwright today as he is going to be motivated to bounce back from a rough start to the season. The Reds have a projected team total of 3.40, which is the fifth lowest total on the entire day. Wainwright kept batters from both sides of the plate to a wOBA of under .288 last year. Unless you are making a low owned GPP stack and hoping Waino will continue to be off, the Reds are safe to ignore.

This Cardinals offense is on fire right now as they have scored 66 runs in their last seven games. Bergman will be making his first start in the rotation for the Rockies and lucky for him he gets to make it away from Coors. Unluckily for him, he has to face the Cubs offense in Wrigley. Bergman has no upside as a starting pitcher due to his what will likely be a low pitch count allowed and a career 12.7% strikeout rate. Avoid him today as he is by far the biggest underdog on the day.

Arrieta will likely be the chalk play today for cash games and does make a solid tournament play today. He has started the season exactly where he left off last year with two quality starts that both ended with tallies in the win column and a SIERA of 2.32. His 23.1% strikeout rate gives him the upside needed to make a solid option in any format if you can pay the price. At over a -300 favorite, he is Vegas’ favorite option to come out and get a win today.

Arrieta has been extremely solid since the beginning of last season and the Rockies have the lowest projected team run total of all the team playing today at 2.49. Unless you want to give away some of your money today, avoid the Rockies’ bats.

The Cubs offense will be licking their chops after getting shut down yesterday and playing a very poor all-around game. They should be able to get to Bergman early and often as they have a projected team total of 5.01 for the highest team total on the board for the entire game slate. In his career, Bergman has allowed lefties a wOBA of .299, while really struggling against righties for a wOBA of .425.

Young is someone you can safely avoid in all formats of daily fantasy. His upside is limited due to his lack of strikeouts (16.6% in 2015) and the fact that he had a SIERA of 5.15 last season as well. He does not pitch deep into games and is basically filler for the Royals to try to steal a few innings for their bullpen.

Bassitt struggled in his first start this year, but pitched very well in his second start against the Mariners (7 innings, 0 earned runs). He will look to repeat that success, but will have a very tough time against a patient and potent Royals offense. If you have played DFS the last year or two, you know the Royals give pitchers a huge bump down in value due to their plate discipline, which takes Bassitt out of consideration today.
is now getting the start for the Athletics. This changes projections for the game on both sides. Last year, Gray had a solid SIERA of 3.45 to go along with a respectable 20.3% strikeout percentage. The problem here is the matchup against the Royals who are always tough on starting pitchers. There are better options to pay for up today, but Gray is not a terrible play by any means.
Batter Grind Down
Kansas City
The change to drops the Royals hitters done into a tough category of offenses. Last year, Gray kept batters down to a wOBA of less than .265 from both sides of the plate. You can avoid the Royals now for the most part.
