De La Rosa is an aging pitcher who is not exactly valuable as a fantasy pitcher. He holds a 4.75 SIERA on the season with a below average 18.0% strikeout rate. His matchup is decent against the Mets, who, against lefties, are ranked 22nd in wOBA and have a 23% strikeout. With that said, I don’t think I have ever played De La Rosa in fantasy, and I don’t plan beginning tonight.

Colon has had a decent season this year for the Mets. He has a 3.35 ERA on the season and is coming off a great effort against the Cardinals (7 IP, 1 ER, 8K). His SIERA of 4.32 shows some regression is in order, and his 16.4% strikeout rate takes away any upside. Still, his price today is low enough to make him somewhat more playable, as he should get some run support as a decent favorite.
Batter Grind Down
Colorado
Colon has kept righties at bay this year, holding them to a .292 wOBA. Lefties have fared a bit better, though, as they have a wOBA of .327 against him on the year. The Rockies come in with the fifth-lowest team total of the day.

Gonzalez surprised us all in his last start when he struck out eight Cubs and held them to two earned runs. He now has a 4.59 SIERA on the year to go along with his low 18.6% strikeout rate. I do not believe he can put another great start together against the Twins, as Vegas has him as a slight underdog in a game with a total over nine runs. He should be avoided in all formats today.

Milone comes into this game with a 4.62 SIERA and a very low 15% strikeout rate. The White Sox are not exactly the most imposing offense, as they rank in the middle of the league against left-handed pitchers in terms of wOBA and ISO. He is a small favorite tonight, but lacks upside, and this game should have plenty of runs on both sides.
Batter Grind Down
Milone has actually struggled to both righties (.350 wOBA allowed) and lefties (.357 wOBA allowed) this season. This makes the White Sox a decent offense to target tonight, and they have a high projection of 4.70 runs, which is the eighth-highest of the day. The White Sox are always a hard stack because they don’t score a ton of runs, but that could change today.

Overton does not need too much of an explanation. He has an 8.40 ERA (5.75 SIERA) on the season to go along with a ridiculously low 13.7% strikeout rate. Plus, he faces a Cleveland offense that is sixth in the league right now in runs scored per game. Just move on.

Tomlin has been inconsistent over the course of this season. He comes into this game with a 4.16 SIERA and a 17.2% strikeout rate. He does get a decent matchup against an Oakland squad that is ranked 26th in wOBA and 22nd in ISO against right-handed pitching. They do not strike out a lot (18.2%), dropping Tomlin’s value a good amount, but the win should be there for him today if he can pitch just average tonight.

Oakland
Oakland has a projected team total of just 4.01, which is the ninth-lowest of the day. If you want to use some of the cheaper bats that hit higher up in the order, I would have no problem, but they are not a stackable offense tonight against Tomlin.

Hellickson has been pitching very well for the Phillies over the last month. During that six-game span, he has only allowed more than one earned run once, and he now sports a SIERA of 3.98 on the year to go along with his 21.0% strikeout rate. He gets the matchup of the day against the Braves, who rank last in the league in many of the offensive categories listed. This should be a pitcher’s duel, as both offenses leave a lot to be desired and both pitchers are in play tonight, but Hellickson’s counterpart does make a slightly better play.

Noto always discusses a few pitchers home and away splits and how drastic they are. Teheran is a great example of this usually, but actually looking closer this year, he has been solid both in Atlanta and out. He has a solid 2.71 ERA (3.84 SIERA) on the season and a good 22.6% strikeout rate. He has a great matchup against the Phillies today, who are ranked 28th in wOBA and 20th in ISO against right-handed pitching. He is a decent favorite tonight and makes for a solid play at home.
Batter Grind Down
Philadelphia
Teheran has been very solid this year, as he has kept lefties to a .292 wOBA against and righties to a very low .234 wOBA against. The Phillies bats are not in play today as they have the third-lowest total of the day.

Atlanta
Hellickson has always been someone to target to the left-handed bats against. This has continued this year, as he has kept righties to a wOBA of just .284, while lefties have a wOBA of .339 against him on the year. Runs will be a premium in this game, so do not get too carried away with Braves bats.

Taillon has now made seven starts this year and has pitched well. He holds a 3.50 SIERA and a 19.3% strikeout rate. He has a solid matchup against the Brewers, who are ranked 20th in wOBA and 22nd in ISO against right-handed pitchers and who he held to one earned run just over a week ago. He is very much in play at his price, especially at FanDuel tonight against a Brewers squad that strikes out at the highest rate in the league.

Anderson is not someone to focus much attention on due to his low upside. He comes into the game with a high 5.40 ERA (4.82 SIERA) and a low 17.7% strikeout rate. He doesn’t have the worst matchup of the day, as the Pirates are 12th in wOBA and 25th in ISO, but he is a big underdog and should be avoided just on upside alone.
Batter Grind Down
Pittsburgh
Anderson has been a major reverse splits pitcher this year. He has kept lefties down at .275 wOBA against, but has been crushed by righties, who have a .429 wOBA against him on the year. The Pirates have the fifth-highest total of the night, putting a number of their bats in play tonight.

Taillon held this offense at bay just over a week ago, and now they have a 4.18 projected run total, which is the 16th-highest of the day. Taillon looks to be one of the better starting pitchers tonight, making the Brewers bats an avoid on the slate.
