Bolsinger is making his third start of the season, posting a 4.41 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 19.1% in his first two. He was a decent source of value last year, but we generally prefer to target him when he has a favorable matchup and when he is pitching at home. That’s not the case today against the Cubs in Wrigley Field. Even though the wind is not blowing out to center, I still give the clear edge to the Cubs’ offense in this matchup.

Lester seems to be one of the biggest favorites on the board every time he takes the mound. He hasn’t been sharp in his last two starts, but still owns a 3.65 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 24% on the season. He draws a mediocre matchup against the Dodgers, who are ranked 21st in team wOBA and seventh in team K% against left-handed pitching this season. I slightly prefer , but Lester is considerably cheap on both FanDuel and DraftKings.
Batter Grind Down
LA Dodgers
The Dodgers are ranked below the major league average in both team wOBA and team ISO against left-handed pitching. To make matters worse, they are facing one of the best southpaws in baseball in . Over the last two seasons, Lester has held both left and right-handed hitters under a .290 wOBA.

Chicago Cubs
The Cubs check into tonight’s game with the sixth highest run projection on the board. They draw a favorable matchup against Mike Bolsingner, who is only making his third start since coming back from injury. The main issue that I have with the Cubs is how expensive they are. If I am paying up for hitters tonight, I would much rather target the two teams playing in Coors Field.

Ray hasn’t been quite as bad as his 4.67 ERA would suggest, but he needs to improve his command before we consider targeting him in DFS. In ten starts this season, he has a 3.98 SIERA with a walk rate over 10%. He draws an awful matchup tonight against the Astros in the hitter-friendly Minute Maid Park. Ray should be avoided in all league formats.

Fiers has been rocked in his last couple of starts, which has brought his numbers down on the season. He now owns a mediocre 4.06 SIERA with a strikeout rate of only 16.1%. He is listed as a sizable favorite tonight against the Diamondbacks, but that has more to do with the favorable matchup against . Fiers is cheap, but there are better pitching options on the board tonight. He is a deep GPP target at best.

Arizona
The Diamondbacks have a mediocre run projection of 4.15 tonight, as they square off against Miek Fiers. He is a pitcher that has historically allowed a lot of home runs, but he has cut down on that this season. I do like the ballpark boost for the Diamondbacks, but see them more as GPP plays rather than cash game targets.

The Astros have the highest run projection of any team outside of Coors Field tonight. They draw a favorable matchup against the struggling and they get to face him at home in the hitter-friendly Minute Maid Park. Archer is not having the season that he, and many others, expected. In 11 starts, he has a 3.80 SIERA (4.62 ERA) with a strikeout rate of 26.8% and a walk rate of 10.8%. His velocity is slightly down this season and so is his swinging strike rate. There is still a lot of time for him to turn things around, but we shouldn’t get too excited about a matchup against the Royals on the road. The price is tempting, but Archer is strictly a GPP play until he can flash some form.

Duffy is making his fourth start of the season. Even though he has only averaged 62 pitches per start, that number continue to trend upward with each and every start. He could throw 80+ pitches tonight, but that still limits his upside quite a bit. Throw in a difficult matchup against the Rays and Duffy is an easy fade tonight, even though he is pitching at home.

The Rays are a top five offense against left-handed pitching this season, but come into tonight’s game with the fourth lowest team total on the board. Remember when I said that the Rockies could score 100 runs last night? They certainly tried their best to accomplish that feat, scoring 17 runs. Another offensive breakout could be coming tonight against Lamb, who has a 5.61 SIERA and a low strikeout rate of 12.4% on the season. Lamb should not be on your radar and if he is, you may want to rethink your daily research routine.

Chatwood has done a nice job this season, but we don’t target pitchers in Coors Field. His strikeout isn’t nearly high enough to make up for the damage that will likely be done against him tonight. As always, avoid the pitchers and load up on the bats in Coors.

Cincinnati
Typically when a team scores four runs, they have a decent chance of winning the game. That was far from the case last night, as they lost by 13 runs. The Reds come into tonight’s game with the second highest team total on the board. They see a HUGE ballpark boost playing in Coors Field. The only knock on the Reds tonight is that does produce an elite ground ball rate, but that shouldn’t take you off of Cincinnati in cash games.

The Rockies are coming off of a monster outing against the Reds last night and we could see another one tonight. In addition to one of the lowest strikeout rates of any starter in baseball, has allowed a .441 wOBA to left-handed hitters and a .361 wOBA to right-handed hitters over the last two seasons. Do whatever you can to get as much exposure to the Rockies as possible tonight.

Despite a higher SIERA, a lower strikeout rate, and a lower swinging strike rate this season, Hernandez is still priced similar to how he was a year ago. The main reason is because his ERA is sitting at 2.86. If we believe in the indicators, we should expect some regression for Hernandez moving forward. However, even with all of that said, you have to at least consider him tonight against the Padres. San Diego is the best pitching matchup available, especially for a right-handed pitcher. This is the first time all season where I may actually consider paying the premium for King Felix.

Friedrich is going to get blown up here shortly. The difference between his SIERA and ERA is nearly four runs. Regression is going to hit and it is going to hit hard. His walk rate is nearly as high as his strikeout rate and he hasn’t fared well against right-handed hitters in his career. Don’t get sucked in by the low ERA.

The Mariners have really hit the ball well this season, ranking seventh in runs scored per game. Even though Petco Park is known as a pitcher’s park, you have to like the matchup against , who has allowed a career .376 wOBA to right-handed hitters.

The Padres are ranked 27th or worse in all five of the offensive categories listed above. While should eventually give up a few more runs than he has, we shouldn’t expect that to happen tonight. With the third lowest team total on the board, the Padres can be avoided in both cash games and GPPs.
