Snell has a 4.75 SIERA on the year along with a solid 23.5% strikeout rate. His biggest problem lately has been his lack of command (13 walks in last three starts), which has kept his innings pitched way down. He is too risky tonight against the Astros, who have some lefty mashers in their lineup and come into this game as heavy favorites. The risk outweighs the reward tonight for Snell.

Keuchel has been inconsistent this year. He has shown flashes of great pitching and has also given up five or more runs in seven of his 25 starts. Over his last 30 days, his ERA does sit at 4.41, while his SIERA during that span is almost a full run lower (3.45) and his strikeout rate is usable at 22.2%. The matchup today is decent against the Rays, who have the highest strikeout rate against lefties and 23rd in wOBA. He makes a solid play in all formats.
Batter Grind Down
Tampa Bay
Keuchel has allowed a .327 wOBA to righties on the year and has struggled at times as well. Vegas doesn’t think that is happening tonight though, as the Rays have the second-lowest projected total at 3.57 runs. Avoid their offense for the most part tonight.

Leake has struggled over the last month, putting up a 5.90 ERA (4.26 SIERA), and he continues to strike out batters at a very low rate (13.4%). His matchup is decent today against the A’s, and he should be in line for the win as one of the biggest favorites on the board. The upside is not there, making him a tough tournament play, but is cheap enough to go SP2.
Batter Grind Down
Oakland
The A’s come in with the fourth-lowest team total on the entire day at just 3.64 runs. Leake has allowed a .312+ wOBA from both sides of the plate this year. While I don’t love Leake, it is hard to love this offense either.

While Carrasco’s ERA (4.93) over the last 30 looks bad, his SIERA has stayed low (3.17), showing maybe some bad luck with some of the runs given up and more importantly, his strikeout rate sits at 27.2% during that span. He has upside going for him tonight in a tough environment against a good offense in the Rangers. He is risky, but could easily put up a big number tonight as well.

Griffin is not a pitcher we ever want to take for daily fantasy. He rarely gives up less than three earned runs in his starts, doesn’t pitch deep into games, and does not hold an elite strikeout rate to make up for his other faults. He has a tough matchup against the Indians top-10 offense, making him an easy avoid.

The Indians have the third-highest projected offense tonight against Griffin as they have a total of 4.96. Griffin is attackable from the left side of the plate, where he has allowed a wOBA of .392 against him, making a lot of the Cleveland bats in play for a full stack tonight.

DeSclafani has pitched well this season. He comes in with a 3.97 SIERA and 21.5% strikeout rate. The problem today is he has to go into Chase Field tonight, where the total is set at 9.5 and it is basically a pick ‘em. I do not expect another low-scoring game in Arizona, making both pitchers tough to play.

Godley is a pitcher we don’t need to spend to much time on, as he holds an ERA over five and a low strikeout rate of just 16.8%. This should be a high-scoring game as both offenses are in the top ten for projected runs scored. Avoid Godley.
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
The Reds have the eighth-highest projected run total at 4.72 runs. Godley has allowed a .357 wOBA to lefties and .312 to righties on the year, which puts a lot of the Reds offense high in the order in play tonight.

Folty is another pitcher on this slate that we can safely ignore. He has been bad over the last month as he has put up a 5.94 ERA (4.34 SIERA) and a low 18.7% strikeout rate. There are enough decent options tonight that we do not need to spend a roster spot on him.

Peavy will try to right the ship tonight as he has struggled this year. On the season, he has a 5.55 ERA (4.39 SIERA) to go along with a low 19.8% strikeout rate. We can safely avoid him tonight, as he has not pitched more than two innings in just about a month even though he does have a solid matchup against the Braves.
Batter Grind Down
Atlanta
Some Braves players are in play tonight, even though they have a very small total. Peavy has really struggled to all batters, but especially lefties who he has allowed a .384 wOBA to on the season. The Braves could be seen as good value and Freeman is a strong play.
