Boyd has not started a game in close to three weeks coming into this tough matchup with the Blue Jays. His numbers on the season are very poor as he has a 6.44 ERA (4.92 SIERA) and a low strikeout rate of 16.3%. A non-elite lefty in Rogers Centre against this offense is never a great option and should be avoided in all formats.

Sanchez has been solid over the last month of play. Over his last seven starts, he has allowed more than two earned runs only once, while pitching eight innings in three of those seven games. He comes into this game with a good 3.73 SIERA and a 21.3% strikeout rate. The warning flags in this matchup come from the fact that Sanchez does pitch much better away from home (ERA close to two runs higher at Rogers Centre) and he is facing a tough Detroit offense that is ranked seventh and eleventh in wOBA and ISO respectively against righties. Sanchez is a bit too expensive for the matchup, but can be used as a GPP play.

Detroit
Sanchez has allowed lefties a .304 wOBA and has kept righties to a wOBA of just .256. While I do not love Sanchez, the Tigers offense is nothing special today either. They have the second lowest projected team total on the day at 3.64 and should be avoided for the most part.

This is great matchup for this Blue Jays squad against Boyd, who has allowed a .359 wOBA to right-handed bats on the season. All the main contributors are in play today as the Blue Jays have the fifth-highest total overall but the highest projected total of the day slate at 5.36.

The Braves call upon Teheran to make the start, as Joel De La Cruz, who was originally slated to start, had to pitch four innings in last night’s high-scoring game. Teheran has been solid this year with a 2.72 ERA (3.77 SIERA) to go along with a very good 23.7% strikeout rate. He has a solid matchup against the White Sox, who are ranked in the bottom third of the league in wOBA and ISO against righties. Teheran is playable at FD today, but is a bit too expensive at DK.

Quintana has had a great year for the White Sox and comes into this game with a 3.06 ERA (3.96 SIERA) to go along with a solid 22.5% strikeout rate. As has always been the problem for Quintana, he has not received much run support, as the White Sox offense has averaged just 2.88 runs per game for him, which is the third-lowest of all starters with over 15 starts. Hopefully, the Sox can get him a few here, as he has a great matchup against the Braves, who are ranked last in ISO and second-to-last in wOBA against lefties this year. He makes a great play on the day slate in all formats.
Batter Grind Down
Atlanta
Quintana has held lefty batters to a wOBA of just .228, while allowing a .298 wOBA to righties. The Braves come into this game with the third-lowest overall total of the entire slate and lowest of the day slate. It is hard to imagine them putting up double digit runs two days in a row against two solid pitchers. Avoid them here.

The White Sox come into this game with a projected team total of 4.10, which is the seventh-lowest of the day. This year, Teheran has been much better against lefties, but has allowed a career wOBA against of .340 to them. This puts a few of the cheaper Sox who are batting high in the order in play such as and .

CMart has looked solid since late May and comes into this game with an average 4.04 SIERA as well as a 19.3% strikeout rate on the year. He gets a decent matchup against a Brewers squad that is ranked 19th in the league against right-handed pitching in team wOBA. Martinez is a heavy favorite today, making him a solid play in all formats, but I do have him ranked behind Salazar, McCullers, and Quintana in the day slate.

Anderson has struggled mightily over his last four starts. He has not pitched more than five innings in any of those starts while allowing 19 earned runs during that span. Anderson’s main problem lately has been his tendency to issue free passes, as he has walked 12 batters during that four-game span. His control is not helping him at the moment, and he should be avoided in all formats due to his low upside (17.4% strikeout rate) and the tough matchup against the Cardinals, who rank third in both wOBA and ISO against righties.

Anderson has had a tough go of getting right-handed batters out this year, allowing a wOBA of .417 to them this season. The Cardinals come into this game with the tenth-highest projected run total of the entire slate and sixth-highest of the day slate. They make for great plays in both cash and GPP formats today.

Ray comes into this game with a SIERA (3.79) close to a run lower than his ERA (4.78) on the season. He always has DFS upside due to his 25.8% strikeout rate on the year and now gets to start in pitcher friendly AT&T Park. The Giants are a decent matchup for Ray, as they are ranked in the middle of the league against lefties, making Ray a decent mid-level play at his price.

Peavy had a very tough start to the year and has pitched slightly better as the season has progressed. He still comes into this start with an ERA over 5.00 (4.75 SIERA) to go along with a close to career low 17.7% strikeout rate. He gets a matchup against the Diamondback who are ranked in the middle of the league against right-handed pitching on the year. He may be worth a look over at DK where he is very cheap, but there is a lot of risk attached.
Batter Grind Down
Arizona
Peavy has struggled to get all batters out this year, as he has allowed a wOBA of .331+ from both sides of the plate. With that said, the D-backs have a low team total today of just 3.77, making their offense tough to play except for tournament formats.

Tropeano came back to throw 95 pitches last Monday after returning from a shoulder injury. He pitched well in the five innings, surrendering two earned runs (two home runs) and striking out four. He will look to build on this start in what is a tough matchup as the Orioles are ranked second in team wOBA and first in team ISO against right-handed pitching. While he is cheap and playable, the less than ideal matchup along with concerns about his pitch count mean he can likely be avoided in most formats.

Gallardo is not a starter we look to target too often in daily fantasy. He comes into this game with a very high 6.10 ERA (5.33 SIERA) as well as a low 16.3% strikeout rate. Reports show that his fastball velocity was clocked at just 88.1 mph in his last start, making him an easy avoid in any matchup today.

LA Angels
Gallardo is a great pitcher to attack today, as he has struggled all season. He has allowed lefties a wOBA of .415 on the year, while righties have managed a .324 wOBA against him. The Angels have the fifth-highest projected team total of the day, making them worth targeting on the day slate.
