Tillman doesn’t fit the mold of the type of pitcher that we are looking to target in DFS. He has a low strikeout rate, he walks a few too many hitters, and he plays in a tough division. Tonight’s game against the Rays does feature a low over/under, but the Orioles are underdogs on the road. I’d rather pay up for his pitching counterpart, Matt Moore.

Moore looks to be back to the pre-surgery Moore. In his four starts this season, he has a 3.22 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 25.2%. He draws a boom or bust matchup tonight against the Orioles, who have some good power in their lineup, but also strikeout out a high clip as a team. He provides nice upside at his price point. While I prefer to use Moore in tournaments, he is a viable SP2 as well.

Team ISO vs. LHP — 0.132 (16 of 30)

Projected Run Total — 3.35 (25 of 30)
The Orioles’ offense has really struggled so far in this series and it looks like it could be more of the same tonight against Matt Moore. The Orioles have the sixth lowest team total on the board. The right-handed bats could be worth a look in tournaments, but the Orioles can be avoided in cash games.

The Rays draw a fairly decent matchup against , but they still have the ninth lowest team total on the board. They don’t hit right-handed pitching particularly well, but there are a couple of bats that do stand out here. For those BvP truthers out there, is 17-for-51 with seven home runs off of Tillman in his career.

Moscot is not a pitcher that should be on your radar tonight. He has really struggled in his first five career starts, posting a SIERA well over 5.00 with a very low strikeout rate. He comes into tonight’s game as one of the largest underdogs on the board. Avoid Moscot and look to target some of the Mets’ hitters against him.

Harvey has allowed at least two earned runs and has struck out less than six hitters in each of his four starts this season. That doesn’t exactly give us a ton of confidence in him heading into tonight’s start, but I still have him ranked as the second best pitching option on the board. He draws a favorable matchup against the Reds and he gets to face them at home in the pitcher-friendly Citi Field. Look for him to snap not one, but both of those streaks tonight – meaning he will give up less than two earned runs and strikeout at least six batters.

How do we not play Arrieta tonight? He is coming off of another no-hitter and now he gets to face the Brewers at home with the wind blowing in from right-center field. I didn’t think it was possible, but the Brewers are projected to score less than two runs tonight. Arrieta is by far the best pitcher in tonight’s slate and even though we have to pay a premium for him, it may very well be worth it. The only problem is that it’s tough to fit a lot of hitters from Coors Field with Arrieta.

Tomlin was one of the best value pitchers in DFS last season and he is off to a great start again in 2016. In his first two starts, he has a 3.33 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 22.7%. He draws a favorable matchup against the Twins, who have one of the highest strikeout rates against right-handed pitching. Tomlin is a small favorite tonight and you have to like the strikeout upside that he provides at this price point.

Berrios was the number one pick in the 2012 draft. He is one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball and he immediately steps in as the Twins’ best pitcher in their rotation. In 12 Triple-A starts last season, he posted a 2.62 ERA with a strikeout rate of 27.7%. He has also looked great in his three Triple-A starts this season. He is not available on FanDuel tonight, but makes a great GPP play on DraftKings.

Team ISO vs. RHP — 0.148 (15 of 30)

Projected Run Total — 4.43 (9 of 30)
It’s always tough to predict how a pitcher’s major league debut is going to go, especially when it’s a top prospect like . Vegas likes the Indians’ offense in this matchup a little bit, as they have the ninth highest team total on the board. The way I see it, both Berrios and the Twins’ offense make nice GPP play, but I’ll be avoiding both in cash games.

The Twins draw a tough matchup tonight against , who has pitched well over the last two seasons. The Twins have the 16th highest team total on the board. While this isn’t’ a matchup that we have to go out of our way to avoid, there aren’t any hitters that really stand out tonight, especially since we have three games with totals of at least 9.0 runs.
