Ray is always a possibility for GPP purposes, as he does sport a solid 26% strikeout rate on the year. He also has a very good SIERA of just 3.77, and he takes those numbers into Great American Ballpark today against a Reds squad that is ranked 24th in wOBA and 12th in ISO against lefties. He has some upside, but at his price, I would rather use pitchers like McHugh and Lackey.

Sampson is someone we do not need to spend a whole lot of time discussing. He has one of the highest SIERAs of anyone taking the mound tonight (5.50 SIERA/5.51 ERA). The matchup today is average against the Diamondbacks, who are ranked 15th in ISO and 17th in wOBA against righties. The have a very high projected total, and Sampson can be avoided in all formats.
Batter Grind Down
Arizona
While the Reds offense is in a good position to put up some runs tonight, the Diamondbacks are in a great position. They get a solid matchup against Sampson, who has allowed a .388+ wOBA from both sides of the plate. The D-backs have a projected team total of 4.93, which is the sixth highest of the entire day. The bats are in play from both sides of the plate and are a solid contrarian stack away from the Rockies and Red Sox tonight.

The Reds in Great American can put up some crooked totals at times, and today could be another game where you can stack up both sides of the ball. Ray is a decent strikeout pitcher but has been hit hard against righties (.356 wOBA allowed) on the year. The Reds have a projected team total of 4.57, which is the 11th highest on the day.

Lackey sports a solid 3.94 SIERA on the season to go along with his above-average 25.6% strikeout rate. He has struggled a bit lately, as he has allowed four or more runs in four of his last five starts, including six home runs during that span. His matchup is solid today against a Brewers squad that is ranked 23rd in both wOBA and ISO against righties. Lackey has had success against Milwaukee, as he has kept this Brewers squad to a ERA under 3.00 over his last seven starts against them. At his price at FD, he makes one of the better mid-level pitchers.

Davies has had a decent season so far for the Brewers. After 16 starts, he has a 3.76 ERA (4.08 SIERA) and a 20.0% strikeout rate. The problem today for Davies is the matchup against the Cubs, as he is a big underdog against an offense that is ranked third in the league in runs per game. Avoid him tonight.
Batter Grind Down
Chicago Cubs
The Cubs offense is in the blue tonight for team totals, as they sit at 4.60, which is the tenth highest of the entire slate. They get a decent matchup against Davies today, who should be attacked from the left side of the plate, as he has allowed a .347 wOBA (.274 to righties) on the year. The Cubs are a contrarian stack tonight, as they can always put up runs via the long ball.

Lackey has kept batters from both sides of the plate to a wOBA under .291 on the season. This Brewers squad has a total under four runs (3.90) and are in the bottom third of the league in terms of team totals. The Brewers are an easy avoid against Lackey today.

Sale was happy to get the break over, as I am sure he wanted to bounce back from that eight-earned-run game to the Braves right before the All-Star Game. He bounced back in a big way, as he went eight innings of unearned run ball just to see his bullpen give it away in the ninth. Sale will now bring his 3.60 SIERA and solid 24.5% strikeout rate into an average matchup against the Tigers today, who rank 16th in both wOBA and ISO. There are a lot of studs going tonight, which might make Sale a bit under owned in comparison to Scherzer and JoFer.
Batter Grind Down
Detroit
When the Tigers have a team total fewer than 4.00 runs you know they are facing a tough pitcher. The Tigers have the sixth-lowest total of the entire day, as they have to face Sale, who has kept batters to a wOBA under .275 from both sides of the plate. For all you BvPers, is 18-for-36 with four home runs against Sale. Him and Miggy should be deep GPP plays only.

When taking batters against Boyd, you want to look at the right side of the plate. Against righties, Boyd has allowed a .327 wOBA this year while keeping lefties under .250. The White Sox are rarely a stackable offense, which is why you should take advantage of any cheap righties hitting high up in the order tonight as they do have the ninth-highest team total on the day.

July has been a decent month so far for Weaver. He has only made two starts in the month but has come away, only giving up two earned runs in thirteen innings pitched. Yet, Weaver at this point in his career has virtually no upside, as he brings his 13% strikeout rate into this matchup with the Astros. Houston is a boom or bust play, but with Weaver’s low strikeout rate, the boom is not exactly too large. Don’t play Weaver.

McHugh comes into this game with a 4.04 SIERA and a 22.2% strikeout rate. The matchup against the Angels is decent as they are a middle-of-the-league offense. The one concern is their low strikeout rate against righties, but since McHugh is not getting a premium price tag, he looks like a decent mid-level choice to pair up with one of the studs going tonight.

LA Angels
The Angels come into this game as large underdogs against McHugh and with a projected team total of just 4.01, which is the tenth lowest of the day. There are a number of great offenses to target on the night slate, so the Angels should be mostly avoided, other than Trout, of course.

Houston
While Weaver was pitching decent recently, Vegas has no faith in him to continue that against a strong Houston offense. The Astros come in with a projected team total of 4.99, which is the fourth highest of the entire day. Weaver is attackable from both sides of the plate, as he has allowed a .351+ wOBA to both lefties and righties.

Nolasco surprised a lot when he shut down the Detroit offense, as he allowed just one earned run in six innings. He will have to have similar luck again today as he has to face arguably the best offense in baseball. He is an easy avoid today.

Price has been a bit inconsistent this year, posting a 4.36 ERA after 20 starts this season. His SIERA is a full run lower (3.35) than his current ERA, which means he has been unlucky so far this year and some improvements should be made over the second half. His strikeouts make him a solid option each time he takes the mound, as his rate sits at 25.8%. His matchup against the Twins is slightly tough as they are fourth in ISO and 12th in wOBA against lefties. Again, Scherzer and JoFer look like better stud options putting Price in play for tournaments.

Minnesota
While Price has allowed a .315 wOBA to lefties and .313 to righties, it is very difficult to use the Minnesota offense against him today, as they come into this game with a projected total of 3.72, which is the fourth-lowest total of the slate. They are an easy fade tonight.

Boston
What are the odds that this Boston offense gets shut down two nights in a row? Highly unlikely, as they get a solid matchup against Nolasco and come into the game with a projected total of 5.78, which is the second-highest total behind the Rockies in Coors. Nolasco has allowed a .313 to lefties on the year and a .356 to righties, putting the entire offense in play today.
