MLB Grind Down: Saturday, June 25th
The RotoGrinders MLB Grind Down will give you an in-depth analysis into the upcoming MLB schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy baseball, there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, weather, and salaries.
The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. No sport has more variance than baseball. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

: Santana will face the Yankees again today trying to follow up a solid performance against them in his last start. He was able to pitch into the eighth inning, scattering six hits and striking out four while picking up the win. The problem is that it came on the heels of three straight games giving up five earned runs with four or fewer strikeouts. His lower strikeout totals are too much to overcome for fantasy and he is not on my radar as an option today.

: His last start was against this very Twins squad and there was moderate success mixed with some bad defense. He was able to strike out nine Minnesota batters but only went five and one thirds innings. This is one of those plays that on paper makes total sense, but if you have rostered Pineda this season then you know to expect some chaos at some point with him on the mound. The strikeout upside is certainly there and I love the price point, making him one of the top options on the day.

Minnesota
Twins: This team has been below average hitting for the entire season and also strike out at a high clip, making them easy targets with pitching. I would not suggest going too heavy with their bats as the consistency is all but non existent in this lineup.

NY Yankees
Yankees: This is a New York squad that has had it’s ups and downs offensively, but rank in the bottom third overall. With Santana struggling before his last start it is hard not to like some of these Yankees bats and once again leads the way as a top option from this lineup.

: We have seen mixed results from Gonzalez in his starts for the White Sox as evident by the past three games in which he allowed just one earned in two of the starts and seven in the other. The Blue Jays are not a team to be messed with unless you have a top-tier talent on the mound, taking him out of play for me today.

Chicago White Sox
White Sox: This is a Chicago squad that has not hit the ball well as a unit. There have been times when individuals get hot, but all things considered, I limit my exposure to the White Sox for the most part. Most of the damage dealers are more all-or-nothing types, lending them to be used in tournaments and that is the case here today.

: We are not getting a top-tier talent by throwing Gausman in our lineups today, but he has a modest strikeout rate and these Rays have not been great against right-handed pitching. Being priced where he is, Gausman makes for a great secondary pitcher on multiple-pitcher sites and he has good potential for a win bonus.

Rays: We have seen a very solid year from to date, but there are not many players outside of him that can be trusted in our lineups. There is a reason they rank near the bottom of most major offense statistics against right-handed pitching, so reaching for Tampa players is probably not the best idea here today.

Orioles: On the flip side, this Orioles team flat out mashes against right-handed pitching, ranking first in ISO, which means we have a ton of upside here. The best part about this Baltimore squad is that we can play any number of guys and feel good about it. The downside to that is we are limited with how many we can play which stings a bit when you are on the outside looking in when a player you left off the stack goes ham.

: After two subpar performances coming off of the DL, Carrasco has bounced back in his most recent starts with the strikeouts up and run totals low. The Tigers have turned it around at the plate, but still strikeout at a high rate, making Carrasco a very solid option for tournaments at his price point today.

: We have another guy making his way back into the rotation today as Sanchez was struggling big time before being sent to the bullpen. While his work out of the pen has been really solid, I do not trust him over five-plus innings to get the job done, and as a result cannot recommend rostering him today.

Indians: This Indians team is one of the more under-rated offenses in the league, and as a result often go under owned in fantasy, too. They are top ten in both wOBA and ISO on the season against righties and have several players that can go deep and rack up the fantasy points with quickness. I am not sure cash games are the best place for these guys, but they do make a fantastic tournament stack.

Tigers: It was only a matter of time before started to get things going, and with the way is hitting, this can be a dangerous Tigers lineup. I like Carrasco a good amount today, but also realize there is potential with the Tigers’ offense here, so playing a tournament stack is never a bad thing when you have good pitching facing a capable lineup.

: The good news for Miller is that he is not at home in a hitter-friendly park. The bad news is he is in the only park worse for pitchers in the league. There simply is not a good reason to pitch either guy in this game today considering we have a full compliment of options available to us.

Jorge De La Rosa: We saw a pretty good start from him last time out but that was in Miami and he still only struck out three batters over six innnings. As I mentioned with Miller, we have too many viable alternatives to consider plugging in either one of these pitchers today.
